Is it normal that i love myself in this society?

Is it normal for me to love myself in this society? When I turn on t.v. all I see is shows and advertisements that dictate what we should think is beautiful. I'm a mixed individual myself I have beautiful bright skin and kinky, curly, beautiful ethnic hair not like your average mixed person but like your average fully african american woman and I love it because it defines me and makes my appearance so unique! And my husband is a beautiful black man kissed by the sun! And I'm not downing or bashing anyone who has insecurities but if you just accept yourself you will be ten times happier i love the human race in a whole and I'm just damn glad to be a mixed american:)

do you love yourself? 11
did you answer truthfully? 10

What is the point of asking this question if you meet the criteria of what society finds beautiful? It is like asking "Is it normal that I love myself in this society which considers me beuatiful?" Sounds kinda stupid and ridiculouds. It would make sense if it was asked by a person who could be considered ugly according to standards of beauty in this society. It would be understandable if someone asked "Is it normal that I love myself in this society despite the fact that I am considered ugly?" After writing that you have beautiful this and beautiful that, how can you tell people including ugly ones "just accept yourself you will be ten times happier"? If you had a serious accident and fire destoyed your face and body or you were crippled after surving it, would you still love yourself sooo much saying to yourself "just accept yourself you will be ten times happier"?
I'm not writing this because I am totally ugly and envious, I just don't like conceited people saying such shit.

I once wrote an angsty teenage poem in High School called "I Am an Individual and I Love Myself" for a class assignment. It was a big giant "fuck you" to my classmates. It was subtle, but commented on the fact that being different was not a bad thing. But I'm not actually that different from anyone else.

It is normal to love yourself when your appearance is in line with what society sees as beautiful or what other people see as beautiful (e.g. bright skin, beautiful hair, sun kissed husband...).
Wait some 30 years and then ask this question again. Meanwhile, just enjoy your priviledge because sooner or later you will lose it.

I hate my body and I hate my skin. I am not beautiful. Society makes people feel down on themselves.

But you somehow were able to manage to throw society away and love yourself. For that I am truely envious!

I am sorry to hear the way you dislike your image, and I can tell you that insecurity is natural but somehow you must find the strength to love yourself because that's where love starts with ones self! How can you ever ginuinely love another with out loving you first?

I'm not American, but I'm a little mixed too. And I love myself as well. I love my body and I love my skin. I wish more people would love themselves too. There are beautiful people all over the place thinking so low of themselves and it makes me sad sometimes.

I don't love how I look. I love myself, but not how I look. Appearance is near the bottom of my priorities, I guess :P
