Is it normal that i love my father even more once he died?

I've always loved my Mum more than my Dad, but once he died of cancer, I love him more than my Mum now. Why?

    Yes. I am so sorry about the loss of your father. My dad died in March of liver cancer. I too am noticing I love him more. In my heart I believe it is because when the ones we love are gone we experience the reality of who they were and how much we love them...as Mel commented we do not know what we have until it is gone.
