Is it normal that i love having much more money than i need?

I am a simple guy. I grew up in a simple middle class family. Even now, I don't have many ambitions regarding material goods. I don't want a nice appartment, I don't even want a car. But for some weird reason, I just love having money.

Ever since I was a kid, I did little jobs or sold stuff to my friends to earn money. I had more own money than any of my friends, but I never spent any of it. Even now, I have a relatively good job, but I save most of the money I earn.

When I go to the store I always buy stuff on discounts or use coupons. I always negociate prices when I can. I would never buy anything unless I really needed it.

Right now I have a lot of money saved. More than some of my wealthiest friends. But I don't feel like spending it on anything. I just like having it. In fact, the idea of not having money feels horrific to me. I always feel like I should have at least 3X of what I really need.

So, is this normal?

    I'm also sort of hoarding money but it's mostly because I'm scared of running out sometime. I treat myself to nice things at times, but mostly I consider if I really need something before buying it.

    Sure, great, good for you but when Mad Max type shit becomes a reality, all you'll have is a bunch of kindling. Or TP. Either way everyone else will want what's rightfully yours cus they need fire and a clean asshole.

    All of a sudden I'm happy to be poor.

    Yes, it's normal. It's always nice to have a lot of security and you can also brag to your friends about it, you know, if you want to be a dick.

    On a side note, why would you call yourself a "simple guy"? Isn't that like saying you're stupid?

    Seems greedy and unappreciative to have that much money and yet to not be making the most of it, essentially taking more than you will ever need or use. Or maybe that's just the way I see it.

    Like someone else said, just enjoy your time on this earth now, while you're alive- All your savings will be pointless once you're dead anyway. Memories and good times are priceless. If you can afford it, splash out and live a little.

    There are some people who can't even afford food and shelter, so make it worth your while that you even have any money to spend.

    I make an average salary but my monthly spending seems to be less than the average minimum wage worker. I save most of my money for early retirement and overseas vacations. I don't mind wearing old clothes and driving an old (but reliable) car in exchange.

    This is fine to a limit. As long as you aren't making wallets out of duct tape or wearing rags to save money I think you are okay. Having money isn't a reason to spend money in itself.

    I chose not normal, because I think you aren't really doing yourself a favor. You are a money hoarder. Why? "The idea of not having money feels horrific to me". Okay, why? Why are you horrified? It seems kind of...stupid...to not gift yourself. Also, if you have so much to just bullshit with, why not invest it? Do something fun with it.

    I'm the opposite of you. What's the fun in having money if you never spend it? I'm a material girl, so any cash I have on hand immediately flies right into the nearest cash register.
