Is it normal that i love being smarter than most people

I'm not a nerd at all. In fact, I play sports and am very active at my school. When taking nationwide tests, I find myself in the top 10% percentile at least. It is a great feeling knowing I am more intellectual than most. When I don't know something seemingly obvious I get angry, and it frustrates me when people say stupid things.

If you're so smart, why is grammar not a focus of yours? Your last statement was not even a complete sentence.

Ego. It will let you down every time. because eventually, you WILL come across someone smarter. What do you have to hang onto then? Be watchful of where you put your faith. Or that brick wall that you are standing under RIGHT NOW WILL tumble down on you.

It is normal to be confident in an area you excel in.

However... Confidence is sexy, Arrogance is not.

The difference between Confidence and Arrogance is subtle but important.

Confidence is acknowledging your positive qualities or abilities.

Arrogance is in putting yourself above others because of it.

Ugh yes very normal. With intellect comes control, understanding, and freedom. Stupidity can be frustrating, but keep in mind that people are diverse and blessed in different ways. Try not to look down on others because they arent as gifted as you (i have that problem and i can be a bit of an ass because of it). Share your smarts and enlighten those in need of some academic stimulation.

I'm really smart as well (way above my classmates), but I hate being this way because I get bored in class and annoyed when stupid questions are asked.

  • I don't get very good grades at all but I score amazing on state and class tests. I'm really smart and I love it I'm just to lazy to do homework

If you were as smart as you think you are, you'd know that 10% percentile is redundant!! Maybe you should reassess!!!!!!!

Her last sentence did not actually need to be a full sentence. This is not a professional forum and so she was writing the way we would normally speak which in this type of writing, is fine. As well, the lack of capitalization is likely just a typo.

The error that amuses me is that she states that she is in the 10% percentile. It's redundant. Literally she's saying " "I'm in the ten percent percentile." Someone in the tenth percentile would likely know that.

  • If you are so smart, why do you brag about being a conceited and contemptuous snot?

There's always someone richer, taller, fatter, thinner, nicer, meaner, smarter, dumber than you...or anyone for that matter. And, if pride and arrogance over your intelligence is your gig, your going to be quite humbled when you're simply a brain among other brains.

Remember that the smart people are the ones who can make the biggest mistakes and have the worst failures. (Think Enron, BP, all the top executives at the banks, car companies, etc) Nobody trusts a stupid person with anything important. Surround yourself with people with different perspectives, remember that you don't know everything, and be always grateful for the gifts you were given and you will do okay.

Dude! runnergirl relax. There is nothing wrong with feeling good about yourself. Deep down we are all a little bit narcissistic. I love being smarter than the average person. Now that I am in college, I am surrounded by so many brilliant people and I'm "average." But I LOVE IT! When I leave the college atmosphere and remember how much smarter I am than most people I feel great and appreciate it. Plus, smart people are the SHIT! They have interesting things to say and are generally very passionate people.

You may want to look into narcissistic personality traits. There is a difference between high self esteem/confidence and plain arrogance. Make sure you're not turning into an arrogant prick!

Does it also drive you crazy that you made a very obvious mistake in this question?

Dude, of course it's fucking normal! I'm one of the more intelligent people I know and that makes me feel great! But is this ACTUAL intelligence, or just straight-As, academic smarts? Cuz being smart academically has very little to do with true intelligence.

If you are good now don't let it go to your head, because you will end up being one of those people who assume they are smart and don't know crap.

I know a few people who got the best scores through college etc and now are quite dumb, they try and make up answers to everything and get it all wrong. They thought that because they got good scores they could just assume answers and they would be correct.

Also you will find at uni you will be average like every one else.

  • Yeah, it's normal. I get straight As, am the best basketball player on my team, and a starting Defensive End in football. I feel good about it, why would you NOT feel good abou it?
