Is it normal that i love bad weather and hate warmer days?

I live in Australia, but I'm originally from the UK. I am used to bad weather, but I never really minded it as you can easily warm up, you can wear whatever you like and im not really the outdoorsy type. However, I hate hot weather (there were 5 consecutive weeks of 30+ degree heat) because it's really hard to cool down, hard to sleep at night and it feels like I am just trying to get through the day and I'm constantly exhausted. You can never escape the heat- even with A/C and fans always running. The heat comes at you from all directions and it remains constant all day and all night. There's also a lot of humidity and very little breeze that makes it worse.

I hate heat so much, I plan to stay in the northern hemisphere (UK/USA) and stay with friends and relatives where its winter (opposite seasons) during the midst of summer in Australia.

But 90% of people I know LOVE the hot weather, and hate winter. I am the exact opposite. Before, I was indifferent and enjoyed sunshine on holiday, but now I loathe hot weather and yearn for cold weather. IIN?

  • I <3 air conditioning in the summer. I also love swimming in the beautiful lakes. But, being baked by the sun makes me miserable and I would burn to a crisp if I didn't apply copious amounts of sunscreen.

Winter is lovely, as long as the temperatures don't dip below -10 degrees Celsius.

Copius ammounts of sunscreen. I like that terminology :)

      • Hey, I already have my sunscreen supplies topped up: I am ready for the sun to come!

Yep. It seems to be hiding right now, but it'll be out soon enough.

          • I'm definitely going to be wearing some today when I'm painting the fence. It's going to be a hot one here today!

I live in the UK so any sunshine we get, I fully embrace. Usually there'll be a few days of 28-30 where I live, which to be honest feels like fucking shit when you're trying to sit in a restaurant and the sweat is pouring off of you because nobody has/needs AC here. But whenever it's hot and night and I'm sweating I just think to myself - could be worse, could be winter, cold and dark at 3pm in the afternoon. FUCK YEA SUMMER.

I enjoy cooler weather for certain reasons, but I like warm weather for other reasons too. I do not like HOT weather and I don't really care for COLD weather either. Extremes either way can suck.

It's normal, but you think you have it bad? Over here in Florida, (specially Miami) it is as hot as Satan's ass. It is like 90 degrees Every. Fucking. Single. Day! If and when it's actually cold down here, I love it and and I suddenly want to go out more just to enjoy the little bit of coldness Florida rarely gets to have. I love it when it's rainy or cloudy. I hate warm weather specially the super dreaded Summer. -.-

I don't know how you do it in Miami. At least in Jacksonville we get a few months of temps below 70 degrees for the most part. You should move up here! :)

        I wish I could, but since I am underaged (i'm 14) I, unfortunately, can't. :(

OP HERE - Wow, that really sucks. I'd have thought that surely a Miami native would be used to it, but it seems that all people are the same wherever you go.

Usually here, it's 1 month of 90f+, then 2 months of 105f+ then yet another 2 months of 90f+ with 80% humidity before cooling down in the autumn to 75f. Also the UV levels are so high, you can literally feel your skin tanning, and have a tan line after 20 minutes (btw I have olive skin, so it's not like I'm some really pale ginger)

But yeah, do you have any opportunity to go to a relative's house in a cooler part of the US/abroad that can take you in for the summer holidays? I recommned it - it's always fun to spend summer somewhere out of your hometown.

Unfortunately, no. I wished I could live like in Antartica. Im dead serious. That would be one of my biggest dreams. Hopefully this summer Florida won't go up to 100 degrees or 105 degrees. That would be ultimate hell.

I live in Australia and I dislike summer. By summer, I mean reaching high peaks of extremely dry and filling a bucket with sweat weather. I am fine with fair weather during spring but I embrace winter more. I don't have to worry about armpit stains.

It's probably normal if you live somewhere that you don't get enough respite from the heat. I relish any heat we get because about 90% of the year it feels uncomfortably chilly outside. It's nice to be able to go out in a t-shirt without feeling all shivery and cold. I just wish this wintery nip would leave the air soon... it's supposed to be May.

I HATE HATE HATE cold, snow and rain. I love sunny and hot weather. Am surprised at these poll results though that seem to contradict OP.

Here in northern Florida, summer pretty much lasts May-September. The third week of October, it's like the most exciting time of year because we always get to open our windows for the first time in months and it starts to cool off dramatically. Love Autumn! :)

I hate the heat but its the humidity that reallllyyyyy pisses me off. I like autumn weather the best. I love thunderstorms. I like sun showers because RAINBOWS!!! Snow is meh. I wouldn't mind it so much if I had proper winter clothes. So ya.

I live in Indiana USA, and I hate hot weather, but I enjoy a nice sunny day when I'm not sweating... But I Like winter better because when your cold you can keep piling blankets up while in the summer, you use a fan and your still exhausted... Hot weather sucks, it makes you tired and miserable when you wake up and your sweating!!!!

The smell of freshly cut grass, clear blue skies, the sound of birds and childrens laughter fills the air, it makes me sick. I hate summer, I just don't like the sensation of being hot i'd prefer to be cold, plus in the winter there is a relief of getting to your home with heating but in the summer you can only open a window. I find it really hard to sleep in the summer and I always feel so lathargic

I hate wearing just shirts in summer too, plus I hate birds in summer, they see it as a reason to start chirping by my window at 3 in the morning. ( no offence to the Notstrangebird or dirtybirdy you guys are cool)

I'm from Australia as well and welcome the rain, I usually get out in it, ride my bike or go bush walking.
