Is it normal that i love an old friend?

Is it normal to still love a girl from a long time that I may never see again? I used to go camping every summer as a teenager. I met a girl named Lilly, and she was a good friend for a while. Then she asked me if I liked her, so I replied 'Yes' because I loved everything about her. We dated for a little while, but then stuff happened and we can't see each other anymore. Is it normal to still love her, or should I try to move on?

I have nightmares of her being pulled away from me. I may only ever see her in pictures again, so should I give up on her?
