lets just cut to the chase: is it normal to to hate parking garages like me?
Uh... Well why do you hate them? Without knowing why I don't know how to answer you
Yes. I've often witnessed people feeling uneasy when driving or walking through them. Parking garages are enclosed, cramped, sometimes dark places, so they probably trigger some common phobias and outright anger.
thx for the comments (i wrote the post) im afraid of them bcuz of the reasons listed above; but mostly cuz when cars pass by it makes the ground shake and that reminds me of how high up we are.
Totally.Everyone who is used to more populated places, just can't help it.I mean: You find yourself in a desolated place, dimmed lights, few readily available escaping routes, not knowing who could enter this big unknown space and for what reason..
not being able to take a good look at his or her face cause, they are distant when they enter the place, the invade this "space".. Your only way out of there if somebody with bad intentions should get there would be running with all the breath you got in you,and if you ain't a professional athlete,it's likely he'd just catch up with you..and do whatever he had in mind..It is also quite difficult to orientate oneself in these places since there are no reference points to use..So it makes you disoriented.. To get rid of that feeling..
you should spend at least one day exploring the place.. watching who gets in and who goes out, making the place feel more "yours". Like:
You sit someplace and go: If someone comes that way I run away that other way,it's the safest escaping route, and stuff like that.Basically coming up with an adaptation plan.
A defense system. The easier way is to just think:What could ever happen?I'm safe. Nobody is worring, there's no reason for me to worry..
Everyone I seen so far is at ease..
So it's cool.I'm the in the clear.Gooot it?
It's the architecture of the place playing this nasty trick on your mind.
I don't like them because they are dark and creepy. I will use them if it's must but otherwise no.
May not be normal, but I don't like them either. especially ones that have inclines and aren't completely horizontal parallel to the ground. for some reason seeing the low ceiling so close to the floor makes me sick or claustrophobic or something. I remember seeing a movie as a kid were people where trapped in a parking garage due to an earth quake or godzilla or something. I will not park in them if at all possible.
