Is it normal that i live with my boyfriend in college?

My boyfriend and I attend the same college, and we've actually lived together since about five months into our relationship. We've now reached a year and a half, and we feel like we're doing well - every now and then there's a rocky patch, but I don't feel as though I'm missing anything by doing this, nor does he - in fact, our grades have improved a great deal, and we feel like we're finally getting accustomed to living away from our families. Our parents don't know, and would disapprove if they did. (They've implied they might approve within a year or two, if that helps.) Is this normal? Should I put some more distance between myself and him because our parents don't accept it/because it's too early?

Congrats. You've a great thing going, and don't feel you must stop because mum and dad disapprove.

It's likely that they disapprove since there are so many ways living away from home, or with a person you've been with shortly, can ruin things. Rent causes stress, messy environments, new responsibilities, you manage your own appointments.. things can clash and affect you and your schoolwork. You know that this isn't the case, and you've a functional balance in your lifestyle.

Explain it to them, if you think they'd except your judgement. Or don't, since you're an adult now.

(I'd also make sure I know why else they're weary. Maybe they see something in your guy you don't..)
