Is it normal that i like twilight?

When it comes to my question, I mean it as in "Is it okay that someone still likes twilight, after all the hate it receives?"

I know there will be tons of hate here, I've heard enough of it and have seen both sides of the case. No, I don't shove my love for twilight at peoples' faces.

Despite what many believe, I see more hate for twilight than love. Maybe I'm ignorant, but that's what I've seen in my case.

Besides the hate it's received for many years, I still like the twilight series. Shoot me.

Some reasons I like twilight is because the book is an outcast and disregarded, like people in real life, and it brings many aspects of what it really means to be lonely, which isn't a new concept to me.

A lot of twilight haters didn't like Bella, just like her school "friends." I can still relate with it.

Isn't it beautiful that the titles are all based on different phases of night and the last is based on "Breaking Dawn," where the beginning of day occurs?

Millions of people hate that vampires sparkle? I think it's unique that someone's skin can reflect sunlight like a diamond, it was never thought of before. Besides, not all vampires do that.

I also thought it cool that the twilight vampires bite using all of their top teeth like a crescent shape- most vampires only puncture skin with their canines. Plus, they can gain abilities based on their personality as a human, that's cool to me.

Is the media FILLED with "girly vampires?" As far as I'm concerned, twilight is only one story about vampires and there are hundreds of interpretations of vampires out there.

Because you're probably judging me a whole bunch at this point- I have a healthy BMI, I am almost 19, I am not gothic, someone would consider me as a Mary Sue, and I've read many other books. Call me a creep, call me stupid.

In the end, "to each their own." I'm not here to persuade anybody into liking twilight, I'm just stating why I like it.

So, what's my jurisdiction- am I normal or not?

You're seriously asking if you reading the most popular book series since harry potter, and has sold idk how many millions of copies is normal?

    It's completely normal.

The hate for the series is based on many things. It's cliche teen heartbreak fodder, with the lamest version of vampires ever created. Don't get me wrong it's different, but all writers have their own versions of vampires. It just turns out sparkling monsters who hang out at highschool and all have special magical powers is just incredibly lame, it doesn't help that it's poorly written either. A lot of the hate is also due to it being the popular thing to hate right now for all the mindless sheep that don't have the capacity to form their own opinions.

Did you really really just compare twilight to Harry Potter?

No, he said it's the most popular book series since Harry Potter, which it is. That's not a comparison at all.

I will list the reasons it is hated. It is normal to like it since its become so mainstream. I personally had higher hopes for the films just because I am a vampire enthusiast and I love monsters!

I was greatly let down by them. The first one was decently made so not terrible as far as movies go. However vampires sparkling is just silly and it irritates the vampire fans who like vampires for the sex appeal and those who secretly desire to be one.

Twilight has single handily brought vampires to the lowest point in history. Why I have no idea. For some reason people seem to now associate vampires with the Stupid girl teen fantasy of Edward the sparkling vampire. Where people got the idea that what teens watch should be the representation of the actual qualities of that thing I am not sure.

We watch winnie the pooh but it does not make people think they can hug a grizzly bear. Vampires use to be a source of fear in people. However some people get off by fear and being restrained so easy to see how they became a sex idol.

For those who watch a horror movie of a female being tied in a chair and secretly wish they were the ones tied up and get a thrill off this type of confrontation. So at some point became a symbol of masochism and sadism. Which a sadist and a masochist will always find pleasure in fear.

So after the many years the idea of the vampire actually stays very true to its image. Not till twilight did people some how come to the conclusion that Twilight must represent what a vampire is. After the first movie the definition of the movies were dropped and the plot got worse.

It seems as though they were just quickly shooting them out to make a quick buck after the first one came out. People also hate things that are mainstream and the twilight movies were poorly made and even the director started laughing during the filming because the scene was just that ridiculous. These movies are overrated but hey someone liked them or else it would not have been so popular. Twilight is teen bop gold!

I read the books before the massive twilight boom in 2008 and I really enjoyed the first three and then Breaking Dawn is what ultimately lead me to hate the entire series. With the last book she was just trying to push her extreme mormon views down the throats of the impressionable teenage readers of her books and it was so obvious, I remember at the time thinking why the hell is she writing this garbage. The second reason which also lead me to dislike the series is the blatant plagiarism of ideas from earlier vampire novels.

I don't really care for it, but I'm sick of hearing about how horrible Twilight is. I've also seen people say some sick shit about killing children because they like Twilight. Twilight is NOT serious business.

Sounds like you're a very mature fan, which is both rare and admirable no matter what fandom you belong to.

If it makes you feel any better, I'm a huge fan of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, even though there has been some backlash against the adults who like it.

    I think it's normal.

I guess you could call me a closeted fan. I read all the books when they first came out and became obsessed in middle school, re-reading them countless times, and the same went for the movies. I would fantasize about having a beautiful someone crawl in through my bedroom window at night and keep watch over me from the boughs of the trees in my yard. God, on cloudy, rainy days I would imagine that i was living among them somehow.

Then in high school I decided I needed to grow up and forced myself to throw away all of my books. I am going into my sophomore year in college and I just recently picked up New Moon (my favorite of the series) at a thrift store just for shits and giggles. And as much as i hated to even admit it to myself, I remembered why i liked it so much in the first place.

Hey you can like what you want, screw the haters. I don't like twilight but I understand everybody has different taste! Alot of people don't like silent movies, but I love them! It doesn't bother me that they don't like them, it more makes me happy that I have a special thing that I enjoy that's unique to me and my personality. Besides, there must be plenty of people out there like you that like twilight, it became such a popular franchise and made alot of money!

Was it just the hint of twilight
That was shining in your hair
    Or the softly whispered secret
    That had caught me unaware

Was it just the dancing flames
That had flickered in your eyes
Or the mystique of your smile
    Underneath those tawny skies

Was it just the distant music
    That played a haunting tune
    Or the silver incandescence
    Of a full midsummer moon

Was it just the way you held me
As the sky turned midnight blue
Was it just the hint of twilight
That left me so in love with you

It is completly normal. I used to be an ALL-TIME hater of the saga. Specially the summer of 2012. I was really into Buffy The Vampire Slayer and I thought sparkly vampires sucked. I still don't like the idea, but I cannot ignore the fact that it was a very unique one. I have seen all the movies, (still trying to finish Breaking Dawn Part 2) I have not read all the books, though. I have only read Eclipse (not the best book of the series in my opinion) The movies are very entertaining (New Moon is my favorite)

I think it's normal. I like the books, but am not into the whole "fandom" and choosing teams or whatever. However, I have to agree with people who say that the movies suck (no pun intended).

    • Yeah, I think the movies were a big reason why people started to hate the twilight series in the first place. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Thank you for understanding my viewpoint and not smothering hate all over here.

Thanks to twilight sparkling is ALL vampires do now. Since anyone speaking about vampires are automatically asked "Like twilight"? So those of us who like vampire for the fear or sexual appeal are now frustrated when being associated with stupid preteen fiction. "True blood" is an adult show. While they do cry tears of blood that is not as awful as sparkling. Not everyone likes sparkling vampires. Its not fun being dominated by someone who sparkles. Twilight RUINED VAMPIRES FOR EVERYONE! Sparkles do not demand respect or fear.
