Is it normal that i like to rub my pillow with my fingers.

Is it normal that I like to rub my pillow with my fingers because it feels good? I've done since I was a toddler, my parents have wondered about it too. I still do it and I'll believe I'll continue to. Is that weird?

OMG! I thought I was the only one who did this, I've done it since I was little too. Except my odd habit is a little different I take the fabric between my thumb and pointer and sort of roll it lol to me it feels good

omfg!!!!! i can finally tell my family and friends that i am not the only one. i "have" to rub the corners of my pillow at night to sleep good. its almost like a drug. i have been doing this since i was a baby. i am now a 22 year old mother. my corners have to be very pointy. """i have been rubbing the same pillow for over 19 years now."""" i just cant seem to get rid of it. i even find my self in public wanting to walk up to someone with a collard shirt with pointy ends and rub them. i know....thats a little weird!!!! lol!!!!

I believe, and found it to be true. in Chinese medicine body meridian lines go from the hands, and feet crossing our bodies to certain parts. That using a 'Pointy' object can in-fact kneed these points lightly, can create change. the points that need work on us as individuals can vary depending on what our body needs to focus on as in which points do the individual the most good.

Doing this for so long even if done at an early stage in our lives, our body can re: route nerve points that can adapt to the relaxing, or; settling down feeling needing to come from a physical trigger as such. So in away this behaviour can be expressed as a need, as well as a habit.

I'm a 32 yr old male I've been rubbing the corners of the pillows since I was a toddler. I had a pillowcase that i would use, until it was used so much. I'd fold the corners and play use my index finger and thumb sometimes I'll rub it around my lips and then bit it with my teeth. I thought I was the only one who did this.

Me too, and I'm 44. I take the hem and fold it into a triangle, take the point, rub under my fingernails, on the tips and cuticles of all fingernails (I have calluses from it), around my mouth and bite the tip of it with my teeth (like nail biting) . Then, I have to make a new triangle and do the process again.

I do it all the time (watching TV, talking on the phone, etc...) . I even go to work with the pillowcase in my purse.

I've been doing this since I was 3. I've had a particular pillowcase since 1992. Luckily, I've found another one this year. My mother and sister do the same with their own hair or horse/mane/tail hair. So freaking happy we aren't a family of freaks. What the hell is it called scientifically that we're doing?

I even get enjoyment from rubbing it on my spouse but he thinks it hurts and thinks I'm a weirdo.

I am using my new pillowcase and realised it has sharpish edges, and started to rub the edges. Which I haven’t done in ages! Then I remembered when I was doing that when I was a kid maybe around 4-6 yo, I find it embarrassing and would not know how to talk to anyone about this. I am 33 yo now.

This is the first time I thought about Googling and wow this is actually normal!

I do the same, I fold and refold into triangles! I’ll rub the sharp edges against my fingers, my chin, my face, ...

Amazing how God created these little pleasures for us 🙏🏼

I'm 40 and my father did this and I picked it up. My brother even emitted he did it a little. But untill this moment I've never googled it. I felt like this is something that there would be no record or no one else would do. But this is the thing. My habit has gone a little extreme over the years. I now have a dedicated separate pillow I use. Also I use spray starch and Iron the edges of pillow for that razor sharp feeling. Basically like a piece of paper. It takes time because over time you wear the edges down and it gets thinner when ironed. Isually use my right middle finger along the cuticle. And the top of my thumb knuckle. But all is game at this point. I'm not sure why I do it. But it satisfies something. Comfort thing. Honestly would love to get someone with some serious answers about this. Anyways. I call it cornering. Take care🙂

I am 28 female and have been rubbing the corners of my pillows since i was 2 or since i can remember. But it has to have a certain texture, or feel right to start rubbing, I have been told its a soothing comforting behavior. I have torn up pillow corners in a time length of 6 months.. I know im not the only person in the world who does it so im happy to see that im not the only one who does :)

I spend hours daily !! And if I don't do it, I feel incomplete!

I’m 28 and been doing it since I was a kid. It relaxes me. Mine is kinda different bc it’s not the pillow but the pillow case . Rn my favorite pillow case is dirty I’m using a cotton blanket I have which feels so bumpy when I’m rubbing it I take that thing with me everywhere . I didn’t even know I was doing it again till my gf mentioned it I usually play with her ears

Omg I’ve been doing this since I could remember, to my family it was cute when I was young, but when I got older in my teens they started questioning me like “when are you going to get rid of that pillow”, and now that I’m 30 years old I’m still doing it and if they catch me they question me. Saying “No! this is not normal why are you still doing that at your age.” I don’t know to me it’s just very comfortable, even if I go over a friends house and they have a soft pillow with perfect corners I start rubbing it doesn’t necessarily have to be my pillow... I could even feel someone’s skin and if the skin is super soft I start rubbing but majority of it is a pillow I push the corners in the inside of the pillow and I make a “puff” perfect for rubbing. Rub away my friends

I've been doing it always. I can put it down, and not do it for weeks, or; if I try a couple of months then right back on it again. I find it helps me procrastinate, and feel trance like, or; relaxed.

I rubbed, or; I termed it "Flicking" (fanning the corner through my fingers fast one finger at a time) my pillow corner until 2000 then from 2001 til now.

I use the cuetical of my middle finger, if I press that onto the tip of a sharp pillow corner and angle hand keeping my wrist straight toward the pillow corner it feels so sharp, and intense like a cut but it doesn't cut. I press until I can't take the intensity anymore and release off, I call it "Corner Cutting".

Also, one thing I do which is weird I guess is hold the pillow vertical to my nose with the tip touching lightly on the bridge of my nose, and gently by holding the sides of the pillow make the corner go side to side across the bridge of my nose, getting faster, and faster gradually until I can't go any faster, then slow down slowly til I'm stopped at the position I started at.

I Call that "Corner flaps" I enjoy the breeze that comes that and regular fanning of the pillow corner between my fingers.

    Caroline.

Hey sillydee you have made me also feel so good discovering were not alone in this. I also love corners of white cotton sheets litke they have in hotels...they are the best! What about cotton or polyester shirt corners at the bottom of the buttons, a personal and maybe embarrassing bad habit I cannot control. The list goes on and on for me. Been Doing it ever since I can remember.

Yes same here. Honestly I do not have a preference in material but they do have to be pointy. I am on my 2nd pillow in my lifetime. I am 28. And I must say that pillow shopping is an anxiety. And is much like shopping for a car. It takes forever. I have had my current pillow for 2 years and it legit took a minimum of 3 weeks to find the right one.

I do this too, I knead lumpy pillows. I think the technical term is compulsive kneading or tillomania or something along those lines. It relaxes me and it's not like I HAVE to do it, when I'm traveling or whatever I'm fine, it's just nice to do at home with my super soft squishy lumpy pillow.

I don't see why it wouldn't be normal. We stroke animals and material because it feels good. Why not pillows too?

It is a comforting technique. If it doesn't bother you then it isn't a problem. Sleep well!

I think it's pretty common. My 9 month daughter loves papper tags. An they make taggie blankets for that purpose. I knew a lot of people who do it.
