Is it normal that i like to pretend to be my character?

I'm a writer; a fiction writer to be exactly. My characters are often very realistic (to me, at least) but none of them has ever been as alive as one woman - she's nothing like I'd ever want to be, yet I do often pretend I'm her. To myself. When going to bed, I say goodnight to her husband, or more for that matter, and with every situation in real life I can't deal with very well, I pretend to be her. Is that normal?

  • It is is normal actually. There's alot of people who draw characters from themselves or others, or even characters of what they wish to portray, it's not a good idea to pretend when in serious situations because that can be very unhealthy mentally and even physically sometimes. I suggest maybe a little therapy because obviously there is something in your life that makes you have the urge to want to be someone else, and if you continue this is can be dangerous.

I do this. I write too, only it's fanfiction so I don't make up the characters myself. I have one character that I usually pretend to be and I sometimes just play out different scenarios when I'm alone.

  • I don't think it is normal, but I do the same thing. In fact, I have completely become my character.

I'm sorry but it's not very normal. I think your fictional character is what you wish for yourself to had.. You will get some things eventually, but i think for now..it would be good if you tried to create characters not based on yourself, so you could not try to be like them..and not compare them with you

NO must be some kind of obsession...The matter
when you keep doing it you'll get lost in her
    then forget your real character.
