Is it normal that i like to gag myself with my toothbrush?

When I get up and brush my teeth every morning, I brush my tongue (as you all should, by the way).

Naturally, when I brush toward the back of my tongue, my gag reflex goes off. Is it normal that I like it and make an effort to gag myself with my toothbrush?

Hmm, we might make a nice couple. I have a "brush" you can gag on ;)

Let's hope that toothbrush doesn't slip out of your hand...

I do this, too. Usually only once, though - if I try to do it twice in a row I feel like I'm gonna hurl.

I don't think that it is normal. The only concern that I have for you is that vomiting causes tooth decay because of all the stomach acids that come up with it. Just try not to vomit, it is bad for your teeth and the acids will wear down your teeth.

My dad does this. When I lived at home it really used to gross me out hearing it in the morning. But I guess that means you aren't alone.

I think it's normal that you like it. I've heard of people enjoying that sensation. I personally hate the feeling of gaging when I'm trying to brush my tongue. I try not to gag but I can't. I don't want to not brush my tongue though.

Well the gag reflex can act to relax the diaphragm and allow a person to breathe deeply. Some early psychiatric methods had a person gag themselves to relieve anxiety and induce relaxation. The act of gagging would also increase adrenaline. It doesn't seem so strange that a person could enjoy the sensation if they can free it from the mental state most people have when they are gagging.
