Is it normal that i like the pain from braces/retainers?

I got my braces off about two years ago. I loved the pain when they tightened the wires when I had the braces on. It was as if all I could think about was how this wire was shifting these objects in my mouth. Right when I got the braces off they fitted me for a retainer (the clear ones that are shaped to your teeth, I don't know the specific term sorry!). Well I wore it for a few months and just got lazy about it and stopped. I have a permanent retainer on top so the teeth didn't shift all that much. But they did shift a little bit. Lately i put the retainer on and just endure the pain that for some odd reason i can not get enough of. Its like my brain knows its painful, yet i love it. I've also been known to pick at my gums with anything sharp. IM JUST SO CONFUSED?!!? is this normal or not?

I don't have braces, but I've always wanted some, even though I have normal straight teeth. I always press on my gums with whichever finger and love feeling the pain.

I liked the pain you would get from pressing or biting down, but then I got this thing called a "power chain" where they stretched a single, big rubber band thing across ALL of my teeth and connected it at each bracket. It was so horrible; it was all of the pain of biting...at ALL times, even when I was not biting anything. It just throbbed and throbbed and I wanted to rip it out of my mouth but was helpless.

Thankfully, those days are over. :-)

I hated the pain I experienced when I got my braces tightened. But I have no room to judge you because I love burning my mouth with spicy food.

It was the same for me! It's odd to say it, but it had the same satisfying feeling that you get when you scratch an itch. I say it's normal.
