Is it normal that i like religious artwork but am not religious

i'm not a huge art lover or even really religious but the old style religious artwork from all cultures is really interesting. would some people get offended if they entered a house with a mixture of art from christianity, buddhism, muslim, etc.

Bosch is my all-time favorite artist. I'm not religious anymore, though.

Very religious people have made some of the most amazing art. Too bad I can't say the same for music.

I am non-religious and I like some religious artwork. You don't have to be of a specific affiliation to be able to enjoy art. You should be able to put whatever you want in your home simply for the sake that it's YOUR home, most homes reflect their owners as well as the fact that there is no law saying that you can't.

    Hiya,

    I do too.

I love a nice stained glass window and hope to get one on my flat window, I love Sacred Harp singing when it's done by someone I think is good anyway (I actually only found out what SH was through researching a song I really like) although I wouldn't search it out for the sake of it, I love to hear a bluesman growling that he “done gone over [died]” and …... my favourite song is a Latin Mass chant(!)

I read a ton of medieval fantasy fiction, where people can't seem to do anything without asking the Blessed Saints to be with them while they do it.

One of the best days out I ever had was a trip to a shrine where I was given a St. Rita by a nun! It was full of gory statues of people pouring with blood. I have no religious beliefs at all (look up St. Rita for why!) so me enjoying all this makes absolutely no sense.

I take this to mean I’m either slightly not all there, or not as atheist as I thought I was....

Yes a lot of it is very beautiful art. Art is art no matter who it is by or about.

I'm the same way, I find the imagery striking while the religion itself deplorable. I also actually love the way old Gothic churches look, breathtaking.

For most of us appreciate fine and beautiful things, whether you're/ are not religious, who wouldn't move or astonish before the pieces that paint of love, passion and dedication by all the old master and artists. We are all see in it, the ultimate of faith and beauty, whether you're agree with it or not, things that are done with one's all efforts always receive the better appreciation.
To me you are absolutely normal.

Same with me! I love religious artwork but I'm in no way religious. It's completely to find them interesting. If others get offended, just explain that you aren't religious and that you're just admiring the artwork.

Art is art regardless :-) take The Last Supper by Leonardo Da Vinci for instance, you don't have to be religious to admire art work :-)

Welcome to my home. Haha! Who cares if someone is offended..it's your home and it should be how YOU like it. I have a mixture in my house and it just KILLS the mother in law haha! It's bad enough that her daughter is gay but we also have the dreaded "false idols" in our home!
