Is it normal that i like people to notice my hickeys?

When my boyfriend and I have sex, he bites me hard. Often his hickeys/bites are dark purple/brown bruises the size of post-its (I enjoy it, don't worry).

When he gives me one on my neck, I feel extra sexy/powerful when I tie my hair up so that people (only strangers on the street, not family, it'd be weird) can see it, even though it sometimes looks like I was beaten.

It's weird, because I'm a shy girl and don't really like much attention. Does anyone feel like this too?

Well I guess I'm the only one who doesn't find this trashy... so what? As long as you don't have them showing in a professional environment what the hell is the problem? It's not really something I've done in a long time but I also can't see what's wrong with it.

Sorry you've been getting nothing but insults here from people who don't even know how old you are. I think it makes sense that you enjoy that being that you're a shy person. It's something allowing you to step out of your shell and feel empowered, which can be such a difficult thing to overcome. I know I found a bit of confidence in exhibitionism online... I've always been so self conscious I never imagined I could actually be considered sexy by people...

Whatever your opinions are on hickeys guys, that's not really the point of the question. She just wants to know if it's normal to feel that way and the answer is a resounding YES. It's basic psychology.

Depends on your definition of normal. To me, normal means most people behave, act, or feel a certain way. And most people do not seem to enjoy showing off their hickeys, so I wouldn't consider it normal.

No disrespect though, OP, it's your body were talking about not ours.

Hey, it's fine to have your preferences, I just wish people wouldn't project theirs onto others. We're never all going to have the same morality, the only true wrong is harming others.

Commenters here just hit one of my MAJOR hot buttons.... I hate the word "trashy" and I get so angry when someone calls another human being trash. Especially when it's based on only one aspect of their appearance or personality.

If you're raping and killing infants, then you're trash. If you're simply open about your sexuality.... you're just a person. Just like me and anyone else in this world.

Okay I'm officially your biggest fan. I don't recall one time on here when I have disagreed with someone and they behaved like a rational human being.

I've noticed that a lot myself. Most people have a hard time separating how they feel from the objectivity of a debate. Honestly that sort of mentality has chased a lot of the good users away... Dappled, TerryVie, Valkeer, Squirrel_Whisperer... I know there are more but these are some of the most recent.

I've always been a really empathetic person... it's hard for me to be mad at anyone because I always try to see all sides of a situation. Why should it make me angry if someone disagrees with me? Their opinions are just as valid as mine. Unless their opinions include that it's okay to kill puppies or something... >.>

Thank you for standing up for me.

I understand that people think it's trashy, it's their opinion. I don't understand why people think I'm not mature or that I'm a whore.

I am shy, but a very nice girl. I go to college and ace all my classes, participate in charity events and only had one guy in my whole 19 year old life. Yeah I'm a slut in bed with my guy but that's pretty much it.

Also, your explanation makes perfect sense. I guess it's a way for me to stand out or to be "bold" without fear of being judged (because even if strangers do judge me, they won't tell me).

              Thank you :)

    If you are 12.

Funny - I was thinking the same thing...Are you 12? Darling you would feel more "power" if you enjoyed the moment during sex, and take more initiative during sexual play, and have him enjoy it---begging for more, rather than the trophy bruises. Lose the hickeys. It is a sign of not being mature. More importantly, it may draw attention to you in the wrong way.

I love to show off hickeys and I love to give hickeys and for people to see them.

It's fine if u wanna be regarded as a trashy whore. By the way, biting and hickies are 2 different animals. So I guess you can add dumb to the long list of negatives being posted.

I sort of get the same feeling, not really power but I love looking at my Hickey because it reminds me of him I don't really like showing other people just for myself.

I understand, and the mentality behind it is sort of nice, it sort of shows you enjoy being with him and want to show everyone that. plus its a hot reminder of the night before when you look in the mirror. unfortunately social taboos exist and this sort of thing does have a general bad rep, but that doesn't mean you're trashy or a whore or have to please a load of strangers you don't know, if it makes you feel happy, do it. you're not hurting anyone. but maybe you could wear your hair down if you're getting grief off busybodies haha

I would never let myboyfriend do that evveerrrrr. And if he does he puts them where ppl dont see them. when he does whichs rae. if ever. unlike my younger sis who walks around with them and expects ppl not to notice. But whatever makes you happy.

Hickeys are.... Gross. Sorry honey. It's great that your partner is pleasing you but no one wants to see your hickeys. People who show them off come off as immature and sometimes it seems like they are bragging, though hickeys are really something any old crack whore or bum off the street could get.

I'm the total opposite. It pisses me off when I have one from a girl, especially when it's visible despite clothes. It's embarrassing. I'm not a fucking burger, nibble don't chomp!

When I was a teen I thought they were cool as a guy because I was showing off but now when I see them it just looks whorish and trashy.
