I'm not sure what my sexual orientation is, but I think I like girls. But I'm concerned because I like my best friend! It would totally screw it up if I told her, but I can't hold it in anymore. I'm not out of the closet.
when i was a youngin, my girl friends and i used to get drunk and kiss each other. maybe have a night out with your friend, get toasted, kiss her and then if she freaks out, blame the alcohol. at least you will have an excuse and it wont be weird the next day.
but just remember that you are taking a risk either way to your friendship bringing feelings into it. you need to make a choice as to whether it is worth maybe losing your friendship over.
