Is it normal that i just learned that pickles are cucumbers?

I've never thought that the two were related... I simply figured there was some pickle plant out there that I'd never seen before. I was wrong. After 10 minutes of arguing, I went to prove my case by Googling it. I now know that pickles are just cucumbers that have been placed in some sort of salt solution, thus creating a pickled cucumber. I am 18. Is anyone else surprised by this piece of information?

    I used to think that pineapples grew underground. In fact, so did my Pop. So when he planted a pineapple in his garden and let it grow for a month or so, we dug it out only to find that there was absolutely no sign of a pineapple growing. haha I was about eight or nine so that's my excuse but my pop should have known better! :D

      I actually tried doing that too! I heard that if you cut off the top of the pineapple with the leaves and plant it, it will grow into a pineapple tree. I did it, and it didn't work.
