Is it normal that i hurt people who hurt animals?

When people hurt animals I hurt them back. If a person hurts another person it won't affect me at all, but as soon as someone lays a harmful hand on any animal, no matter what kind of animal from a dog to a snake, I will practically tackle them. About two weeks ago I broke two of my brothers fingers for shooting a squirrel that was in our yard with a BB gun. I wasn't intending to break any bones, but I did want to hurt him. I've been doing things like that for as long as I can remember, Is this normal?

      Couldn't the same thing be said in reverse? I mean, why would anybody think that it's okay to hurt an animal. Even if they used the excuse that the animal was trying to hurt them, the same could be said for humans.If a human is trying to hurt an animal or is in the animal's territory, wouldn't that give the animal the right to hurt the person back?

      I'm not really sure why i do it. I think it has to do with the fact that I hate humans and love animals. I didn't grow up in a very loving, child friendly home, but no matter what I always had an animal around to love. I'm not sure if that's why but I think it might be someow related.

    Why do you care there so much easyer to hurt then people you can find a stray and gut it and nail it to a post or hang it in front of someone's window. You care to much people like you ruin the fun of hurting stuff.

      Actually, if you have a caring heart, people are much easier to hurt. I care about the earth and it is becoming way overpopulated with polluting humans, but many animal species are going extinct. So, by hurting/killing a human you can help the earth.

      I want to point out real quick that even if I stopped eating animal related foods it wouldn't do much considering that the animal meat bought from the store has already been prossesed, so the animal would already be dead and I wouldn't be doing much other than denying myself a certain type of food.

        Yes you would- I'm a vegetarian and I feel exactly the same as you on your main question, someone that would hurt something so innocent for no reason should be hurt back! If die hard was with sheep it would definitely not be my favourite film anymore. But I disagree with you on this comment;if a group of people stop eating meat etc, the demand for it goes down, shops stock less, less animals are killed. Why should they be murdered for us when there are plenty of alternate protein sources?

          You are right and I did use to think of it like that. In grades 7-10 I refused to eat meat so that they wouldn't need to stock as much, but then I realized one person doesn't matter. You always hear that one person can make a difference, but that isn't true for everything. All the vegetarians do add up to be quite helpful to animals, but when I wouldn't eat meat I didn't feel like I was helping anything. I have three brothers who all eat large amounts of meat on a regular basis, so me not eating animals didn't really do much in my house.

            Fair enough, but even just a tiny bit less can make a difference-maybe not at home but when you're out etc, it might not seem like a lot at the time but if only 5% of british people are vegetarian, its might not save many animals but it'll save a few and I think that's worth it

              I guess you're right, even if it does only make a small difference. Giving up meat wasn't that hard the first time I did it, so it shouldn't be too hard the second time either.

    Since animals can't protect themselves it sounds like you prefer to give their tormentor the revenge you feel they would want. I think it's normal, animals don't judge, they will love you unconditionally (as long as you have food for them ha). Anybody who would seek to hurt that sort of innocence is someone who in your mind deserves to get some payback.

    You are almost like V from "V for Vendetta" but the animal version. However, you must be very careful with this as you could be sued or possibly be sent to jail for hurting people.

      I try to avoid people all together, so I don't think getting sued or anything would be an issue. If I do see somebody who would possibly sue me or get me sent to jail I think I could contain myself until I got home, at which point I would probably destroy my room, but you are right. I'll try my best to start keeping myself in check.
