Is it normal that i hear odd things occasionally

This only ever happens when I'm not at home alone and the voice I hear calling my name is always the voice of someone who's at my house. But I noticed a few weeks ago when I had a friend over that in a span of about 12 hours I heard my friend call my name 3 times when I was in another room. When I walked into the room he was in and asked him what he wanted he just looks puzzled. But its not the same as if someone actually said it because I don't hear it in my ears, I hear the sound coming from somewhere near the back right side of my head. I also noticed when I have my back to a television thats on and I don't pay attention to whats being said and I hear it all as background noise and the voices never sound like they're speaking English and its always the same low monotone voice. The last thing is music, often times I find myself sitting in a room hearing music from somewhere in my house, and the sound usually stays for a very long time until I get up to see if anyone left music on and then I hear nothing whatsoever. Is this normal?

  • Yes totally normal in the absence of sensory stimulation your mind creates it that would explain the auditory hallucinations.

Its normal. If your not used to alot of quietness around, your mind will try to make sense of anything that it hears: Your name, by example. Your ears make their own noise, but its almost never quiet enough to hear it. If it would be anything else, I recommend calling a professional ghost hunter, to see if its not something paranormal. I can relate to the psychosis thing as well.

Maybe your friend is trying to play a very sick trick on you in order to seduce you into having sex with him.

This may not be normal. Aduitory hallucinations are often a manifestation of psychosis... I, by no means, are calling you psychotic tho. It depends on what other symptoms you may be experiencing, if any. Since you are aware that the sounds are coming from an external source, you should be just fine. If they become persistent or bothersome, I'd see a doctor
