Is it normal that i hear a melody in background noise?
Whenever the house is quiet, I always seem to recognize a specific beat in the background noise. I also notice this with breathing when I'm running. Anyone else notice this?

I hear it too sometimes. It's not everyday but sometimes I do hear background music, talking etc.
its not normal but its definitely unique. you should put this beat through an instrument and express it out it would be something thats genuinely yours:)
graeme revell made an album "The Insect Musicians" and its partly influenced by Adolf Wolfli (1878) who was confined in a psychiatric asylum but made drawings of this music he would hear in his mind. some of these drawings are pure art
A trained ear hears nothing else. Musicians trained on certain types of instruments can pick that sound easily from an orchestra even if it's the weakest sound of all the others! Most music is geared so the melody stands out anyway...
Yes:)
There's music everywhere we turn... A jackhammer cracking concrete, wind in the leaves, people walking up and down the street, cooking food, etc.
