Is it normal that i have very horrific dreams fairly regularly?

I have dreams about a variety of things that tend to be very scary and/or horrific. Last night I woke up after seeing a woman I was talking to previously suffering extreme burns and crying for help as she died. Before that I had a dream where I thought I woke up and a giant spider attacked me. I really hate the dreams where I have the relief of waking up from one nightmare only to still be trapped within another.

I feel like these nightmares effect the quality of my sleep and generally the day afterwards I keep thinking about them. I probably have nightmares every three days.

If anyone has any tips on ways to stop dreaming that would be much appreciated.

look up "how to control your dreams", it's really easy. here's a little general starter info:
the first step is to realize you are in a dream. to do this, you need to train yourself to do "dream checks". Throughout the day, ask yourself, am i in a dream, and then there are different 'checks' you can do. you can look at your hands, if it feels weird looking at them, or they have 4 or 6 fingers, then you are in a dream. You can look at a clock, notice the time, look away, then look back, if the time changed way more than it should've, then you are in a dream. You can check something in text. read it, look away, and look back, if it changed, then you are in a dream.
It may take a while, but eventually once you are trained, you will think to do dream checks in most of your dreams.
Once you realize you are in a dream, you can have full control of it ***as long as you believe without a shadow of a doubt what you want to do.*** the easiest way to do this is close your eyes, imagine what you want and open them and it will be there, or imagine what you want, and if you look behind you, or walk around a corner, then it will be there. if you want to fly, in your mind think to yourself, if i jump and keep my thoughts going up, then my body will keep going up and i can fly, and you should be able to, but if somewhere in the back of your mind you are like, idk if this is really going to work, then it won't.
Now next time you see a woman burning, just close your eyes, turn around, imagine something else and go with your new direction in the dream. I used to have nightmares, now my dreams are better than reality and i dread waking up from them.

Thanks so much. I will really look into that. I have already started with the dream checks. Anything to lower the amount of nightmares, it seems intuitively like something that would work. What a great idea :)

Dreams r usually ur subconscious mind communicating with you. They can represent fears, be a clue of something significant that will happen. When u wake up, do u feel, "thank goodness that was a dream!!" And be glad its over or is it something more disturbing u can't shake? For me when it's the 2nd it has meant something bad is going to happen. Otherwise it can be a deep seeded fear I have suppressed

You have epic nightmares. You should write this stuff down, it might make a good horror movie.
