Is it normal that i have to take my temperature rectally?

I started on T-Shots (Testosterone) back in December of last year.The clinic I got them at over dosed me so that my numbers are in the 1300 range and my Estrogen in the 90s.My doctor who has taken over the T-Shots has me at every other week now with a lot lower dose.It has caused my to go through what amounts to female type menopause with severe hot and cold flashes as well as a hard and racing pulse.I have to keep a log of when these happen and what my vitals are.The temperature needs to be a core temp and calls for either a vaginal or rectal temp.Being a male this leaves only the one option.I found that i actually enjoy my temp taken this way especially by my wife or a female nurse.It also has to be done with an old fashioned glass murcury thermometer as I dislike the electronic ones.They are too fast and I like laying there for the required 3 minutes.Is this normal?

    Thanks gerjitky. I kinda did not want to take it that way myself so I asked my wife to. I like it and I guess it is kinda kinky.As for Mr la_uva_mojada.     yes it's normal. When a condition requires you to closely track your temperature, this method is much more accurate.
