Is it normal that i have to make myself throw up when i get sick?

I feel sick to my stomach quite often. But the problem is that I don't throw up easily, so I stay sick for a long period of time. I don't like putting my fingers in my mouth to throw up or using other methods like warm salt water or Ipecac.

Throwing up is usually the only relief when I'm this sick. So what I have to do is get into a small enclosed area, crank up the heat, think of disgusting stuff (like foul smelling foods, et cetera) and then rock back and forth. I usually have to suffer through all this for about ten minutes before I am able to throw up. I feel very nauseated afterward and have to go relax in a cool place.

*FYI, I DO NOT have an eating disorder. I eat normally as suggested by the food pyramid.

I used to have this problem too... once i was sick for like ten hours, and no one beleived me i was going to be sick to my stomach, saying it woulda happened all ready. By this time it was middle of the night and I was exhausted yet couldnt fall asleep cuz the tummy ache. I decided to try medicine (as it normally doesnt work for me) I didnt even swallow a spoonful of Pepto Bismol before I threw up... i use that now when i really feel nautious and need to throw up. hope it works for you too.

that sucks that you have to put yourself through that just to get relief. i know how u feel i often feel sick to my stomach and i absolutely hate throwing up so i just wait it out. i'm going to see a gastroenterologist soon though because it might be an internal problem. so if this is a common thing for you maybe talk to your doctor about it. otherwise do what you gotta do to feel better

It's completely rational. Not the method most people would expect but that doesn't mean it's wrong. You have three options when you feel sick, feel ill and wait it out, try something to settle the stomach or throw up. Only you know what works to make yourself sick.
