Is it normal that i have these sleep difficulties...

I'll usually go to bed around 11 - 12pm, have difficulty getting to sleep till after 1 or 2am, wake up at 11am or so... and then nap for a couple of hours again at about 4pm or 5pm.

Is it oversleeping? Has been happening for a few years now. I'm also pretty exhausted during the day when I'm awake, though I force myself to work and get heaps done where I can.

PS; I also have very vivid dreams... and the more involved the dream, the longer I sleep.

I have a couple ideas as to what this is. could you describe one of your dreams?

    • Very vivid. It's hard to remember, but a lot of the time I dream that I am going to another planet. I had a dream that Germany was rebuilt on Mars... and another dream that I landed on a random planet far away, and it had a beautiful blue frozen floor, that was cool to the touch, and had keys frozen underneath, and a different smell.

In my dreams I experience sounds, sight, smells, emotional feelings, tactile feelings... they're very vivid and exciting, but sometimes the nightmares are HORRIBLE. It's like living a parallel life at night. I'm also on anti-depressents, which may affect the dreams.

I remember a similar dream described to me, but I cant remember the cause...
I'll do some research and analyze what you told me. Also, just to save time, are you on any other meds that affect dreams or could interact with anti-depressants?

        • Just the anti-depressants and an oral contraceptive, but I'm pretty sure the anti-depressants are enough to make me sleep more and stimulate dreams.

sorry i've taken so long to respond. Anyway, while I can't think of any real world stimuli (other than tv or movies) that would cause dreams like those, I can think of one unusual cause. Astral projection (out of body experience) could send your spirit to one of the other spacial dimensions mentioned in string theory. this would explain the vividness (if thats a word) of the dreams.
