Is it normal that i have scarily vivid nightmares almost every night?

I have nightmares almost every night. They're frightening vivid, but its rare that I remember them. Its hard to explain..Its like, I'm scared to go to sleep in case I have a nightmare, but I'm not entirely sure what I'm scared of.
Frequently, I have nightmares and go into my mum's room to complain, but the thing is, I NEVER remember getting up, never ever. When my mum tells me, I'm completely shocked and surprised, and the fact that I get up without myself knowing, freaks me out. Its sleepwalking, I know, so not that much of a big deal, but I can't help thinking that if I was my mum, I'd want to get my daughter some help...The other night, I apparently ran into my mum's room twice in the same night, saying there was a man in the corner of my room. Hereing my mum say this scared the hell out of me, I don't remember getting up, But do remember a vivid dream of a man leaning over me, his face inches from mine!
Please comment if you can relate to this, if you think its abnormal or not, and if it is strange behavior, what i could possibly do to stop it- Thank you!

When I was little I would wake up in my parents room without remembering how I got in there but the weird thing is that I only went if I didn't have a nightmare if I had a nightmare I would stay in my own room

I have these kinds of dreams every other night, it's totally normal. I suggest you go to bed warm. If your air conditioning is on or your cold at night, this will more likely cause nightmares. I tried going to bed nowadays with several blankets, I haven't gotten any nightmares for a while. Try it, maybe it will help you. You don't have to necessarily burn up, just don't be totally open to cold air.

Talk to a doc? Cause I don't know, buf what I do know is if your hot and sweaty or not getting enough air it's easier to get those dreams also if you eat hot foods or cheese

  • Get a latch or a chain for the inside of your door and put it on the door close to the floor. Before you go to bed at night, latch it. When you sleepwalk, you won't know that the latch is there and you will stay in your room during your sleep.

I slept in the same bed as an active sleepwalker for ten years. It would happen nightly, but would be a lot worse during times of emotional stress. I could have an entire conversation with him while he was asleep. On the down side, he's been abusive a few times while asleep too.

There are some medications you can take that might help. You may want to discuss this more with your mum and your family physician.
