Is it normal that i have no interest in boys?

I am 18 years old and still have no interest in dating or relationships with boys(or girls either). I think about touching and kissing and sex is gross and I am perfectly content with just being friends with everyone I meet. I don't look at guys and think they are hot. Boys never cross my mind and I have never had a crush on anyway. I don't even know what that feels like.

    What IS normal? If you get a clean bill of health from a doctor (b/c an absent sex drive could indicate a medical issue), then its just your choice. How dare anyone dictate to you what you should or should not feel sexually! That's like telling a str8 woman that she SHOULD be eating kitty cat or telling a str8 man that he SHOULD be taking Kielbasa up his bum. Don't let anyone "should" on you. The only person that "should" determine this issue is YOU.

    You might be asexual, which is just as valid and normal as any sexual orientation, or you might just not have developed any such feelings yet. It's rarer than a more physical relationship, but you might come to have a loving intellectual relationship with someone who feels the same. All that really matters is that you are content to be who you are.

    You just haven't found the right person yet, someone will eventually catch your eyes, just give it some time. If you're happy being single and just staying friends with people, then I say go for it.

      You may become a lesbian? Can I assume it is to be like your mom? I am awfully curious what you must look like. How is saying you are not attracted to anyone make you gay?

    @squirrelgirl (56583) and @brianasoccer (72452):

    Its not normal and I not sure if I evem believe you too, but if its real then...I envy both of you so much!!! I try to force my self into this state for a long time, half successfully. Its the ultimate freedom.

      It's true. I have no reason to lie on here. Unlike Briana, I don't feel like I am missing out on anything by not being part of the dating scene. There are so many more drawbacks to being in relationships and having sex than there are benefits IMHO.

      I wish it wasn't true and I really don't feel like it is the ultimate freedom. I do believe it makes my life less complicated but other than that it makes me feel so different from everyone else my age. No one understands that i really don't even like boys. i just wish i could fit in better and be able experience the same things kids my age experience and know what it feels like to be in love. When my friends would have crushes on guys or celebs i would try to like them too and think maybe if i pretend then i might start to feel something...it has never worked. Idk it just panics me to think that I really am different and there is something wrong with me. I don't know what to do or how to change.

    Don't feel bad. I'm 20 and I'm not boy-crazy either. I used to think I was a lesbian for a little while, but I realized that that's not necessarily true and I just see everyone as a friend. I'd be content to die a virgin.

    I don't think I qualify as asexual though, because I have a sex drive. I just prefer to go on dates with Rosie Palms rather than other people, if you know what I mean.

      Yes I have gone through puberty and that is what freaks me out because I def should be feeling some kind of feelings by now and have some interest in boys but even when i try to force myself to think someone is cute or imagine going on date it still doesn't help.

    Nope, not normal.

  • Go on a date with some guys and if the whole thing seems like a bother then you are unquestionably asexual.

    But no not normal. A low sex drive maybe but nothing at all?

    It's common but I'm not sure if it's normal. You are still young though so it may be a phase.
