Is it normal that i have no faith left in humanity?

So this feeling has been building over the last few years. I just see people all over just completely screwing over their fellow man with absolutely no regard for what is right or wrong. I feel like nobody cares about the future of our kids, everyones out to push their own agenda. People have systematically destroyed their own planet, and nobody seems to notice whats going on. The ruling body keeps the masses in check with things like organized religion and legislation designed to keep them in power and keep their old world opinions and views in the limelight. I just feel like the world around me is going up in flames and i am powerless to do anything to stop it.

    I believe your thoughts are perfectly normal. In general, humans are greedy beings. We always want more of whatever it is our interests lie in. While sometimes those interests are harmless, others can be quite disastrous. Money, power, sex, drugs, hate... just a handful of things that come to mind concerning the latter. I believe, though, that if we can get ourselves in shit like that, we can also pull ourselves out. But if more people stop believing, stop trying to end it, then what? There are no problems that can solve themselves.

    i totally understand. its called becoming jaded.i never felt that way until i turned 25 or so and met my daughters dad who abused me horribly and destroyed my life. i am still trying to figure out how to have any faith in humanity when everywhere i look there is pain and suffering and i noticed a lot more after the horiffic abuse.

    The world is a horrible place in general. Yet, while people as a /whole/ contribute to this evil, the tiny, simple relationships existing between the most insignificant people make it worth living here.

    Of course, there are some people that are pretty insufferable as an individual, but they're just not for you. They'll find their own people to associate with, and they'll be happier than they realize, even if they're doing awful things... you can't deny happiness from anyone, not even people you don't like.

    Definitely normal to feel that way but I think unfounded. Look at some of these other people's comments; there is wisdom there.

    People in general are greedy, self-centered, bad-mannered, etc. People who think the world is fine are the reason the world is not fine. Nobody cares that we are destroying the Earth. Nobody cares that humans lack morals and self-control. The world is a bad place, maybe someday enough of us will get together and decide to change that.

    Yes, this a good thing. You are very aware of the Reality of this world. Everything feels like a conspiracy that is bound to screw us over. And the only thing we can do is to be "on-guard" while the Earth destroys itself, due to our carelessness.
    My advice is: Try to trust the Universe + its plan. Not the acts of man.

    You may think this but in the big picture everything is fine. people 60 years ago said society was heading straight down the drain, and here we are perfectly fine. the world isn't going to become a shittt ass disruptive I don't care about anything type of environment. At least not in your life time anyway.

      @Grewell
      Just 60 years ago? Plato said something about hooded youths in the streets at night having no regard for their elders, and the world coming to an end.
