Well, I know you won't believe me. I always think of myself as an idiot person coz I know I'm dumb on everything and I have no common sense. But I ranked first in the private and excellent school in the Philippines.
I have a few friends that are insanely intelligent, top in school and now at uni studying intelligent stuff, but they can't function socially, their common sense is limited, whereas I'm not intelligent at all, but have the common sense to do well in other areas. Not trying to say you have none, but im just saying its perfectly normal, and to work on it if it is the case! :)
Feel free to correct me or state your opinion, but I believe there's different types of 'smart'.
There's common sense, street smart and so forth.
Then there's your average memorizing smarts, which most schools focus on more now. They have to teach to the test and they don't have enough extra time to teach common sense or critical thinking skills. So to me, for you to be really good at school yet not feel like you have common sense is normal. I'm kind of jealous though, when it comes to memorizing school stuff, I'm awful at it.
However, I'm not saying that you don't have common sense. Since I've never met you or talked to you before I wouldn't know. Perhaps you're just being hard on yourself?
I know a couple of people that are educationally clever. But in every day life...they're pretty dum.
