Is it normal that i have never had a friend?

I'm 18 years old and I'm homeschooled. I'm a girl and I have Asperger's Syndrome, so a lot of people think I'm weird. I left school to become homeschooled last year and I'm almost done with high school. I left because I have always gotten bullied a lot, and I couldn't take it anymore. But I don't understand, I'm always nice to everyone. I have switched schools many times from elementary school all the way to high school, and I have never been mean to anyone.

I try to make friends and be social, but people always shun me. It makes me really depressed that no one wants to be my friend, even though I would be a really good friend. I don't think I have ever had a single friend. Why don't people like me? Is this normal or is there something wrong with me?

    • I'm sorry you have to live with it as well. At least I know I'm not alone (:

Nothing is wrong with you. Everything is wrong with them.

Once high school is over, I'm sure you'll find some good people in college. People are rude, and I know its hard to not be bothered by it, but you can't take it personally. People will always have something to say. Its the sad truth, especially how it is today. Don't give up, though.

Things will probably get easier as you get older. I think in college you could find almost anybody, and I think people are more open when they're in college. In high school everyone seems to try to "live" up to their label, or the label they want to become. I'm sorry you were bullied in school. No one deserves that. But you can't let it bring you down or else it really will tear you up inside.

Maybe you could consider counseling. It usually helps when you get another persons take on things, and maybe a more older, and trusted adult will have better suggestions. Good luck! :)

I don't have any *real* friends! they're all fake.
But I turned out fine now.

trust me, things get way better in college. in high school, i had two friends and everyone treated me like i was the plague. now in college, everyone is much more accepting and i have a group of friends im starting to get close with.

nothing is wrong with you. some people are idiots and judge a book by their cover, but a lot of times when you just look at the cover and put the book down, you miss an awesome story inside :)

  • Being nice isn't the ultimate ideal in life. If I were you, I'd get some self-respect, get some goals in life, and friends should follow.

If you respect yourself, others will too and they'll like you then. But that's the key: to have others love you, you first must love yourself.

It sounds corny and pretentious but it works.

people tend to be assholes in high school. I didnt have any friends when I was in high school. After high school people tend to become more mature, and it will probably be more easy to make friends
