Is it normal that i have never been vaccinated?

My mother believes that vaccines are bad science and that it's insane to inject live viruses into someone. As a result, I never received any vaccinations. I've never been terribly sick, either. But still, now that I'm an adult, I'm beginning to wonder if she was wrong and that maybe I should go and get myself vaccinated.

Educate yourself and make an informed decision. Your mother obviously isn't.

    • Yeah, she believes a lot of weird stuff. I guess I should read about this more and see what vaccines I need, and which ones would be appropriate for my age.

Also, your cat is very cute. I love fluffy calicos.

Well, how many hundreds of millions of dollars has your mother spent on her research into this? I'm not saying science is always right but it's usually more right than just having a thought one day and going along with that.

I'm sure you've been vaccinated..were you born in a hospital? Chances are, you were and there's no way they could release you without giving you some vaccinations. Also, did you go to public school? You need to have been vaccinated in order to go.

    • Not true. Whenever the topic of vaccinations came up in school, my mom just needed to sign something to show that she didn't believe in it. As for in the hospital, I don't think I was ever vaccinated. Not on my mom's watch, atleast.

Wow, that's really interesting. As long as you're healthy, I don't see any reason to go and get vaccinated now. It could easily make you very ill.

        • Do you think so? I don't know, I'm thinking that if this is something infants go through, then my immune system must be strong enough to handle it at my age. I'll just have to talk to my doctor about it.

I'm not sure, I'm no doctor :}. Good idea, you should talk to yours. They usually ask you if you're up to date with your immunizations. Good luck!

There are so many horrible diseases around that we have safe and effective vaccine prevention for. Also remember that just because you contracting one of these and having a mild case of it doesn't mean that when you pass it onto the next person especially a child it won't kill them.
