Is it normal that i have had to teach myself almost everything i know?

I have had to, from childhood, teach myself almost EVERYTHING I know. The weirdest part? I have been judged a genius by many people.
Whenever I attend school, I feel so bored because they teach nothing I don't know. I then just teach myself advanced versions of what had been taught that day.

Sounds good and healthy. And it also means you don't have to depend on others when you want to learn or discover something new.

I wonder who else is a self-teacher here.

I used to created everything I had. Board games, toys, stories, perfumes...everything. I didn't most things that were already created, for some reason. I guess it's because I was always a creative kid. I played more with the box it came in more than the toy itself. Even today, I still find myself creating the things instead of buying. Hopefull, if my dreams come true, I will finally be able to create the movies I see in the theaters:)

Hi. That is great! I like to talk and share so here is a word of advice.

I was always like that when it came to math. And it took me far. But, I think that sharing and developing with others is the best way to live. It doesn't have to be in the classroom though. It could be with a friend or your parents.

  • I would rather educate myself than let teachers educate me. They had years to educate me, yet couldn't. It took me about two months to learn most of what I know today, the education system couldn't do that for me even when they had years.

Yeah I was hopeless at school to, zero interest. My few friends and becoming old enough to leave were my main target.
Later on though I trained in two separate trades and did extremely well and I'm qualified in the both , I even enjoyed the study . It's always about interest to me , none of that and I'm screwed.

  • Self educated people tend to be smart because they learn on their own terms. Look at me, i did terrible in school, then taught myself as an adult...now i'm smart as fuck. But like me you may have been born with a high IQ, making it easier to learn in the first place.

Good. The fact that you don't need to rely on anyone else for an education can only be a good thing, you're independent:)

So have I , mainly self taught I mean, mainly through just being a very independent nature though. Haven't been called a genius but I have been called extremely clever lots of times- whatever that means.

Sounds like me. My education was a complete let-down. If I hadn't spent so much of my free time with my nose in a book, I'd know nothing at all. Which, when I'm feeling very cynical, is something what I think they may have wanted. Kids from my background are not supposed to be able to think.
