Is it normal that i have dreams that i later learn are future events?
Several times a month I experience a very strange thing. I have dreams that are, for lack of a better word, from the future. I don't want to call them premonitions because that's what the nonsense "psychic" people would say. And, typically, the word premonition has a negative connotation. I've never had a negative dream of this type.
Let me describe one of my earliest memories of this.
When I was a child, maybe nine or ten years old, in the middle of the summer I had a dream that I was sitting in a sun room of a large house in the country. To be sure, I had never been to this house before. I mean, I grew up in a large city. There were no country houses where I lived.
Later that year, for reasons that I don't quite remember now twenty years later, my family and I drove out to the country for some sort of party. As I'm sure you've already guessed, I had the creepy moment when I realized I'd been there before; at least in my dreams. It was exactly the same, down to the glasses on the table that I was sitting at. I was, as you might imagine, startled.
Another good example of this experience is when I was about fourteen. One night I dreamed of a room with bizarre furniture. Again, I'd never been to this place before. A couple of months later, my parents took the family on a vacation. The place I saw was the hotel room I stayed in.
This is something that happens to me on a regular basis, several times a month. When I young, it scared me. Over time my fright turned into puzzlement. At first I thought it was a trick my mind was playing on me; that I hadn't really had the dream in the first place. However, as they continued to happen I came to terms with it and realized that it was indeed real. It's real and it happens regularly.
I'm just curious if other people out there experience the same sort of thing.
