Is it normal that i have an imaginary brother?

So, I'm an only child and I get really lonely a lot of times. Because of this, when I was a bit younger I invented myself a 'twin brother'.
He was everything I could have every wanted in a twin and I could just imagine him there and talk to him through my mind whenever I got sad or lonely and couldn't talk about it to anyone.
Now, it's pretty much almost like he's real.
I never tell anyone about it because I know that people will think I'm crazy or something. But he really does mean a lot to me because of what he did for me.
Is this normal?

Even though I have siblings, I still have imaginary friends. Contrary to what people might think, I don't have them because of loneliness but because they enhance my creativity and act as a "security blanket"/defense mechanism for me - whenever I feel sad or scared, it's comforting to think that they are there for me.

I had an imaginary brother. I am an only child due to miscarriages and one night I dreamed I saw my "brother" sitting up in the clouds of Heaven and he called me just to say "Hi". He had been miscarried and he was sort of a stoner looking guy in a Zildjian shirt. I sometimes feel like he is real and think about him.

He was kind of just, my companion, I guess. I just, talked to him whenever I got really sad, or lonely. I had a lot to deal with when I was younger. And being the oldes among my friends, I was the 'big sister' so I kind of took their burdens too.

      • I see.. I think you're normal but don't lose your grip in reality.
