Is it normal that i have a height complex?

I'm a 21 year old female, & I'm very insecure about my height. The last time I got measured by a professional I was 5'4.5 & that was about a year ago, but I feel like I might by about 5'5.5- 5'6. I measure myself daily and I always get around 5'4 or 5'5, but when I compare myself to others around me who know their height I don't think that I'm 5'4. I feel so tall, & I refuse to claim 5'6. I'm very insecure about my height & wish I knew how tall I really am. Am I just being ridiculous or is this normal?

I'm from Orange County, ca. Everyone's either really short or really tall. Plus all of my friends are 5'4 and under so I always feel like a giant next to them.

What difference does it make if you're a couple inches taller?

I guess it really doesn't make a difference. It's just my own insecurity.

But most people are insecure about being too short. Under 5ft 4in is actually considered petite. A lot of people who are physically petite end up being treated and viewed more like kids or not getting as much respect in life as their average to tall peers. Also a person of smaller stature can be viewed as more vulnerable by a potential attacker. It's a good thing that you're taller than your friends; technically average height. If your friends give you a hard time for being a few inches taller than them that's really Mickey Mouse of them!

I'm a woman and i'm 6ft. I'm ALWAYS the tallest one, at least around female friends.

I could have complex, or i could just embrace the fact that with heels on i'm a giant! A powerful one.

    I choose the latter!
You should spend a day with me and i will make you feel short<3

I really don't see the problem here, 5"4 - 5"6 is perfectly average, I'm 5"7 and the only time I feel tall is when I'm with my 4"10 friend. Height wise you're 100% normal.

It would be somewhat understandable if you were a guy. Today guys are only attractive and treated normally if they are tall. If you're a woman though then don't worry about it. Women NEVER catch shit for their height so being self conscious about it is ridiculous.

That's a good height for a lady. You shouldn't worry about it.

Height wise I'm right in same neighborhood as you and I don't get it cause I'd much rather be taller. Models are tall; tall is a good thing. I'd love to be two or three inches taller!

    Where I'm from 5'4 is short and 5'6 is average. I'm 5'10

Yes. When I was measured by a doctor they told me 5'4.5, but when I measure myself at home I get anything from 5'5-5'6

It's not normal to have a height complex when you are entirely within the normal height range. You are ever so slightly above average - but remember, average is the middle measurement, there will be plenty of women far shorter and far taller than that. A difference of a couple of inches is hardly noticeable.
