Is it normal that i have a fake boyfriend?

I have a fake boyfriend! He is real, but he's not really my boyfriend. I just pretend he is. I make fake phone calls and pretend that I am talking to him, because in real life he could care less about me. Anyways, I know this sounds weird, but I saw a boy online and I have pictures in my phone of him and I tell people that he's my boyfriend. I don't go by his real name, instead I go by the name of the guy I liked in school. Anyways, as I was saying, I literally pretend that I am talking to him on the phone when I really am not. I know what people are probably gonna say. "Oh my God, get a life!" I do have a life and many guys have asked me out in real life, but none of the guys I wanted asked me out. So I like to pretend that this guy that I never even really talk to anymore is my boyfriend. Is this normal?

No, that is not normal. That's a really bad habit you're getting yourself into.

Why don't you use that effort to talk to real guys instead? If many guys have already asked you out already, why don't you give some of them a chance?

    • Well, I can't because if I actually talked to him I might find him telling me I'm crazy.

It sort of rules out the possibility of getting a real boyfriend anytime soon doesn't it?

Preferring people from your fantasies to real people? Sounds familiar to me.

I think it is within the realm of normality, as long as you realise the difference between reality and fantasy.

It would be better to try and find a guy in real life you mutually likes you back. In the end, it is just you talking to yourself, and unfair to the guy whose pictures you have on your phone. There is nothing nicer than coming back home at the end of the day to a real warm person after a long hard day and them holding you in their real arms, and kissing you, and telling you how much they care about you, and love you, and maybe prepare some food for you. With your current fake boyfriend, nobody is doing that. You have a relationship with your imagination of what a real relationship would be. Try and find somebody you like, try to go on dates even if you don't want to date the guy, maybe if the date goes well you will find something you like about him. If not, at least you would not lose an opportunity.

    • There are so many strange reasons I have.
I just can't figure out what the reasons are.
