Is it normal that i hate when a guy brings me flowers

Brings me flowers. I think its corny. I can't use them, they eventually die and should be shining where they were born not in my room. I mean i love flowers, they are beautiful, i just don't like to be given flowers. IIN?

I used to be the same but after years an years of never getting them it would kinda be nice occasionally.

I guess im not your typical girly girl... I love flowers, hate getting them as a present. I just hate that "you can never go wrong with flowers". They dont have to think a lot they just go for the flowers. Like someone said, if my hubby was walking around and saw a beautiful flower and thougth of me and he brings it to me i'd love that. But as a present heeellll no! Give me something that you actually thougth about, that i can actually use and doesnt die :)

I'm 38 and have never been given flowers well the truth is I've never had a man in my life so obviously I've never gotten flowers.
My sister was given flowers by her husband once and it made me really jealous. Even though I'm a flower type girl I still long to experience the simple joy of being given flowers by a man. Sadly that doesn't look like it will ever happen.

  • You can always preserve the petals which is what I do. I make potpourri with them if I get a large bouquet. They will last longer this way than if they were left to wilt and blow away in the wild.

yeah i understand but my husband still buys me flowers because i dry the petals and put them in little glass jar things and arrange all the colours in the jar to make patterns and they still smell nice after all these years!

My hubby knows and he wouldnt give me flowers. But in my first relationship i didnt know i didnt like them as a gift, and he gave flowers for valentines, aniversarie, birthday i just said thank you but i really hated it! Flowers just sit there and do nothing and eventually die. Buy me chocolates, a dinner & movie! Im not so hard to please get me to mcdonalds and im happy as can be. Just DO NOT bring me flowers... :)

Aww dappled...that sucks hind tit. Even if I don't like a gift I would never let that be known and would still be moved by their thoughtfulness.

I do give fake flowers now and again. Some of the silk ones are really pretty and they last forever. :)

I think flowers are a very sweet idea now and then. But don't overdue it.

I went out with a girl who hated the idea that my "thoughtfulness" had basically just executed a bunch of living things for aesthetics. I never gave anyone flowers ever again.

    • The problem was not your intentions, it was her reception.

I think it's normal and there are lots of people who share your view. However I enjoy them, their beauty, how delicate they are, etc. I like that someone chose to do something thoughtful and the fact that they die makes them even more special. They aren't concerned about money or material things...makes me giggle. My girlfriend and I often buy flowers for each other.

Well, I think that just the thought of getting flowers is really sweet, but you do have a point, they just die later on. I do love flowers though. And you're right about how beautiful they are, but I think what you're saying is normal. I remember getting flowers from a guy, and even though I took care of them, they never really lasted.

Like Angel in a glass dress said, just say thank you, and tell them that you like poems or cards too. And still be thanfkful that they got you flowers.

Each person has their own preference. If you don't want flowers why don't you just tell them ahead of time?

Then you won't have any issues.

Of course if you don't tell them... then it's in very bad manners to get mad at them. And in my opinion you don't really have a right to be mad at them either.

They're trying to be kind. The proper response is "thank you" and then later on mention that you love whole plants or cards or poems.

But don't punish him for bringing the wrong gift if you didn't tell him what the right one was in the first place... it's rather rude and immature.

Well, one exception-if he went out and picked some wild flowers. At least that takes effort.
