Is it normal that i hate to smile?

I really do. I get really angry when I am in a public place and I get negative feedback because I don't have a shit eating grin on my face all of the time! I think this is really sexist because a lot of guys walk around looking like they are about to kill every single person around them and this is okay by society. I don't look like the Devil either. I just don't look like I am a "Price Is Right" bimbo. People make me feel like I am the scum of the Earth if I don't feed them the happy, happy expressions they want and being forced to do this makes me want to destroy people. Is it normal to be so angry about this? I am guessing if I were a dude, I wouldn't get so much flack!

I have the same problem. My face naturally falls to a frowning expression so it always made people worry about me because they thought I was sad all the time. I eventually realized I had to make the effort to change my expression, not to that of a big grin, but at least neutral. I pretty much wear my heart on my sleeve so when I'm excited or just happy about something I'll end up walking around with a goofy smile on my face. But I always heard it's the smilers you have to watch out for. And hey, you ever notice in fashion magizines the models are never smiling? They look PISSED!

  • I think you have a righteous "beef" in terms of people fucking with you. I agree that females are expected to smile more than males in Western Society...if that is where you are based. In the "best of all possible worlds" you shouldn't have to tea bag some jerk to exist within a community unfettered and unbothered by people. Wouldn't that be a wonderful world?

Just don't give a shit about what people think. Be who you are. If you don't like smiling, then don't fucking smile and ignore societal courtesies!

    ^ LMFAO!!! "trained seal"
    It's so very true!

As a girl I do smile at people if I meet there eyes walking past them. It's just to avoid the awkwardness. But If that person happens to be some girl who looks like she is out to slaughter someone then I feel reluctant to smile. They project being miserable and if I can see that from just laying eyes on them why would I bother try to smile at them! It's almost intimidating!

Mostly over weight chicks do that. I am more comfortable smiling at a guy that looks angry then a fat chick!

  • Whenever I see a woman pissed off in public it instantly pisses me off. You know who I'm talking about. That blonde wearing her shades in doors with raised eyebrows and a "wtf you want from me" expression on her face.

    RAGE

    • Well.... FTW "do" you want from her? Many people make you feel like there is some "social tax" you must pay in order to step one foot outside of your front door.

I mean, you can't even go to "Star Bucks" without some asshole trying to jump into your line of vision who wants to get some reaction out of you like some trained seal.

A smile doesn't cost anything but it can brighten up someones day, I love smiling at people and I smile at EVERYONE I make eye contact with. Guys smile back but they're not as social as us girlies so you don't see them smile as much. People must assume you're not approachable when you never smile, I think how angry you are is verging on scary lol you should be who you want to be and not let it get to you

    • If I want to smile I will. If I don't I won't. I choose. No one else.

Like I said be who you want and don't let it get to you

  • What do I want?

I want to see people happy. If I run into someone with a look on their face like they want to stab someone I'm going to react accordingly and how dare you for telling me I shouldn't.

I don't demand that people have a grin on their face 24/7 but I won't accept a person who looks around at others with violence in their eyes.

    • You sound like some Nazi Guard from Schindler's List. Achtung! No gloomy faces HEEEERE! You smile for ze Fuhrer or ELSE!!!

"You" don't call the tune of what someone's expression "should" be and anyone that would "let" you control them like a puppet is a spineless boob. I wish I knew who you were and I could encounter you for a few choice minutes. I would make sure to frown like a bulldog and to give you the evil eye to boot. This is America, not some fascist dictatorship!
