Is it normal that i hate the sound of someone peeing

Is it normal that I hate the sound of someone peeing. There's something about the sound of someone peeing and it splashing into the toilet that really irritates me. I grew up in a small house and when someone was peeing, I could hear from the living room and I began to think that maybe other people in my family that it was annoying so I began to flush the toilet or run water WHILE I pee to cover up the sound. It's become somewhat of a habit and now (even when there's no one else in the house), without thinking I automatically run water of flush the toilet when I go to pee. It just occurred to me that being irritated by that sound might be a little abnormal. Am I right?

the only thing i think about when i hear someone peeing is telling them to "turn off the tap and stop wasting water". peeing is normal and the sound is normal. you will get over it when you grow up.

Normal. It's understandable that it irritates you.
I don't think anyone else wants to hear body waste hit the water. That's like hearing the "Plop" when you USE the bathroom.
If you know what I mean.

You people are neurotic and poorly adjusted. Go piss on a tree.

Is too normal. Going to the bathroom is a private thing. I've been with my bf for over a year and we both have an agreement to run water or have music on while doing our business :)

Thank you for making me not feel crazy. I hear someone else peeing loudly and it makes me want to drill out my eardrums.

I have a small apartment. The bathroom is next to the living room, and any sound coming from the bathroom does not have far to travel. Men pee louder than women. Even with the bathroom door completely shut, anyone in the living room can easily hear the guy's pee stream hitting the water. L.O.L.! It's funny how some male visitors will aim for the side of the bowl when women are here and other guys could care less and still blast the water.

it's normal. i never used to care but once when i was little my mom pointed out she could hear me through the door, ever since then i've run the tap (even when no one's around out of habit). i also prefer not to use public restrooms when other people are in there because of the noise, but i can do it if i have to.
