Is it normal that i hate the sound of new strings?

Easy enough, kind of stupid but still; I have been playing guitar for about 7 years and each and every time I change the strings I need to take a break from playing that particular guitar until they don't sound so 'new'. Almost all of my guitarist friends say that they love the sound of new strings in their guitars but I strongly disagree. Is it normal to hate the sound of new strings?

    I have a similar peeve I just think that strings are better all around about a month later.

    not for me. i like new strings. however i always found i had to retune them after a couple of hours.

    have you considered nylon strings instead if you dislike the "new" string sound?

    I always thought they sounded better. At least they don't have that corrosion built up on them.
