Whenever I am asked my name on the phone, in college out socialising or otherwise, I just hate saying my own name. It just sounds so.... odd, when I say it. But when others say it, it's fine!
Its not a wierd name or anything, its perfectly normal, and quite a common one actually.
Anyone else feel this way?
Yes I absolutely hate saying out loud too. My voice just sounds weird when i say it, and i hate that i always have to spell my name (since its quite an uncommon one in my country).
I feel like this too. Maybe its some sort of self-identity thing we are all faced with. Idk lol. Just be confident and you'll be fine :)
I hate it. I love my name, but I'm often reluctant to say it to people. I love my first name, but allot have people have given me a hard over time it and I hate how my voice sounds when I say it. Especially, my whole name.
I hate my first name (well my first first name, I have 2 "first" names) and I almost NEVER use it (only on legal stuff) and obviously, I never say it out loud.
I am weird like this too, I hate saying my own name.I also have trouble saying other peoples names, I tend to just say "hey" or start talking to the person. It makes me feel weird saying "JOHNNY...blah blah.".Ive had partners comment on my lack of saying their names but I cant bring myself to do it. Wonder what sort of mental hang-up this is.
Omg I am the same way. I also hate when my bf says it. Cuz he always calls me "baby" or something like that so if he says "Tare" I'm like wtf?? Lol

Yeah, that's normal. I can't stand having to say my name out loud! It just feels so weird! :)
Yes, I like the way my name looks written down or typed out, but there are slightly different ways of pronouncing it and even I'm sometimes undecided on how I should say it. I don't mind others saying it the way they want to. In fact, I quite like the variations.
I kinda feel like that too, but I only hate when I have to say my nickname. But what's even worse for me is when I have to type or write my name. Although I think it only really bothers me because my nickname seems really immature to me, and it makes me feel a lot younger than I am.
Sometimes I'll feel like my name doesn't sound right and I'll wonder if I look like my name so I'll look in the mirror and say my name until it feels right. X]
