Is it normal that i hate people with the same first name as me?

My first name is nothing special (Amanda), but whenever I meet someone with the same first name as me my first reaction is to dislike them. Even if they are pretty cool and never done anything to harm me, I just don't like them.

This might be because The Amanda Show with Amanda Bynes was really popular when I was in elementary school and people would tease me by singing the theme song.

I like my name, I just don't like people who share it. Is this normal?

    No.

Why? You didn't pick your name - your parents did. Same as their parents picked it for them too.

So really you're disliking them because of their parents. How is that fair?

I hate it too. I have a fairly uncommon name, so it's really rare that it happens and people go nuts over it because it's pretty uncommon to know 2 of "me's". What I hate even more is that my name is my REAL name and most other people who use my name, it's just a nickname or whatever, not their actual given name. So people ask me all the time, 'what's your real name'....that IS my real name....Oh...well how do you spell it then? F-U-C-K off, that's how.

It's not a complicated name either, so I never understood why at the beginning of every school year, I'd always have to correct my teachers because they'd read it wrong. Jesus, you're a teacher, and you can't read that?? Then it's a crapshoot whether or not the nurse or receptionist at a doctor's office will call me by the right name, or if I get a phone call, it's always some fuck-up of my name. It's 7 letters and not that complicated. So fucking annoying.

I have a bit of a conflict with this. I've never met a bad Amanda and I feel the need to impress upon you the wonderfulness of all Amandas. You Amandas should be working together. You could take over the world!

Same thing here. Whenever I meet someone with the same name as me, it makes me feel normal. I hate normal.

Only thing I hate about people who share my name is that they tend to be black! <_< I really just hate my name. xP Seriously, though.. They're all black.

My best friend and I share a first name. It's pretty common. I don't have issues with people of my same name. However those who spell it differently than I do, I never got along with them as well.

I don't mind it. You shouldn't care either, Amanda is a common name too.

Hmm, I guess I can get that. Considering how common my name is, I don't actually know loads of people who have the same name as me. It can get very annoying when a group of friends talks about someone with your name and you think they're talking about you. Grr, why couldn't my parents give me a name no one else has?! Like jamoolio or something!
