Is it normal that i hate my birthday?

I hate my birthday so much, every time it's my birthday I feel really depressed and just want to die. I've felt this way ever since my tenth birthday. Maybe I feel this way because of the thought of getting older, or maybe I feel this way because I spend it alone, I'm not sure why I hate it. I don't hate other people's birthdays just mine though. So do u think it's normal?

You're not alone. Growing up I can remember my birthday only ever consisted of "happy birthday, here's 1 present and 2 cards" I never had parties or allowed friends over. Many times my parents forgot. When I came of age my birthdays then only ever consisted of watching TV or going out for a single drink. Yes I got "so called friends" but I feel because of my upbringing I feel embarrassed to remind people so never did....the problem I got now, my daughters birthday is tomorrow and for the last 3 years I don't know how to react to make it a memorable day for her. Yes I spoil her with presents but the magic children should feel for birthdays I don't know how to make it happen. I feel like I'm letting her down. My last birthday I worked, my partner was still asleep when I left for work, none of my work colleagues knew it was my birthday and because I didn't remind my other friends it was just a normal day for me.

Think of it this way. Your birthday and celebrating it is like saying "Congratulations! Your not dead yet. We want you to know how much we love you and like having you around".

I don't like my b-day, either, and I'm 21. It just makes me sad for some reason.

You are very very young to dislike your birthday. U are living the best years of your life. Do not waste these years!!

I dislike my birthday, but I think age ten is early to start disliking one's own birthday.
