Is it normal that i hate homophobic people?

They just drive me absolutely insane. I'm not gay myself but my brother is, and I literally can't understand why people have a problem with it. Just let people be themselves instead of having to live a lie, and how can people be so completely stupid that they think it's a choice? Do straight people CHOOSE to be straight? No, that's just how we are. The insane religious freaks are the worst, preaching about how God made us in his image, but then sending their gay children off to 'straight camp' or whatever those places are called, why would God have created gay people if homosexuality is so wrong? Oh yeah because of the whole choice thing, people choose to be gay, therefore choosing to be persecuted and bullied throughout their lives. Sorry about the rant, but it just makes me so angry I want to punch homophobic people in their ignorant faces. So anyway is it normal to hate them this much?

Of course it's normal and especially since you have a brother who has likely experienced this bullshit firsthand.
Personally, I can't see why it would be wrong even if it were a choice...

I've always wondered why people get so worked up about other peoples sexuality. It's no one elses business. Live and let live, gay people aren't hurting anyone.

i definately agree with you on your argument of it's not a choice and all that, and especially on the religious freaks being the worse.

Hate is hate, and all discrimination is ignorant, including yours.

I hate them too. They need to shut up and accept the fact that it's not cool to be a bigot anymore.

Christians are stupid. They don't know that their god doesn't exist in the first place.

What is more awkward is when you are are helping a gay right movement and sitting next to one. Just like "Oh awkward"? I dont see the big deal in being creeped by gay people. I mean if they are not doing it in front of you really have no reason to complain. If they are making out and stuff in front of you I can see where its a bother. Since honestly some people are bothered when anyone gay or straight get intimate in public. However some people get bothered because they see a gay couple holding hands. Its like 5 year olds hold hands. Since when did holding hands become creepy? Thats pretty innocent.

I don't like homophobes either. You're not alone.

The homophobes fear it because its strange to them. I dont agree with the homophobes, but we should tolerate them just like we tolerate gay people. I feel that the homophobes will stop hating eventually. Whether they learn to tolerate them, or they come out of the closet themselves.

Some homophobes are gay themselves, but they are ashamed of it.

Why should we tolerate people who preach hate about any group? What about that mad baptist family in the US who harrass families of dead soldiers? Start tolerating this and you'll tolerate anything.

Not saying they shouldn't be allowed to preach whatever bullshit they want, I don't mean censorship, but we still shouldn't be silent in the face of bigotry

There's a difference between tolerate and like, i dont care for it either, but being hateful back to them wont make them change their views, if anything, they will hold on to their beliefs more tightly. responding to hate with more hate wont solve anything. In this case, tolerate, meaning to ignore them and not respond to their ignorance.

In short, lead by example and show them there is nothing wrong with it. Hopefully in time, they will question their beliefs and see that its ok. Or at least they will shut up.

I guess ignore would have been a better choice of words.

As for harassment, thats another matter entirely and should be dealt with, no matter the reason for said harrassment.

I'm not suggesting being hateful back to them, but I'm not going to ignore them either because that gives them tacit approval. If theirs are the only views being heard, thoughtless and impressionable people begin to think bigotry is the norm.

I think history shows that keeping silent and ignoring bigotry doesn't lead to any change in the bigots; if they're not opposed in some way they think their bigotry is ok and their views don't change, nor do they shut up.

I completely agree with you. I think it bugs me so much cuz I have many gay friends that I've known for a long time. Why does it bother other people? I also agree on the religious freaks xD I have a friend thats bisexual and she was best friends with this one girl, but that one girl started talking to her about it and saying how it's bad and it's not normal, so my friend got mad and they never talked again haha. Hope fully in the future it could be seen as a normal thing to be gay so people could stop hatin! :)

  • You said "let people be themselfes". Homophobes are expressing their opinions if we all agreed on the same things in the world then the world would be completely different. I am not against gays but if they choose to hate then let them.

Well, we really have to let them don't we? Doesn't mean we should let them spout their hate unopposed by sane people who actually don't care what other people do sexually if they're hurting no-one?

      • Agreed. They have the right to not like homosexuality and people have equal right to oppose them opposing homosexuality.
