I don't usually like the lame spelling or pronunciation variations parents inflict on their kids.
I can feel my eyes rolling when I see some stupid parent proudly announce their kids name as if it's so different or interesting when all they've done is change one fucking letter from another crappy name. Ooow how creative!
Um, names change all the time. You don't see people walking around named Hamlet or Horatio anymore :P
I like modern names, as long as they're not too tryhard, like Skylynn (sky-lynn not skillen lol) or something
I'm more into bringing back older names. If I have a daughter, I want to name her Amelia or Anna after my great grandmothers. If I had a son, I'd name him Dominick (even though that seems to becoming more popular now) after my great grandfather or Louis after my grandfather.
I agree. They really aren't "creative" at all. Little do they know, every other parent had the same idea.
I like a mix of both. I like the name Embry for a boy and Claire for a girl.
I never heard these names until my Nephews started School, my Oldest nephew has 2 Kadens and an Aiden in his class, My Youngest nephew's "Girlfriend" is named Addison.( My PC is from 2009 and it's Spell-Check doesn't know the names Aiden And Kaden, that's just goes to show how new these names are.) If i have a Child, They'll be named something uncommon from the late 1800s or earlier.
Oh, don't get me started. My rule of thumb for naming my boy was to ask myself if his resume would be tossed aside with one glance at his name.
And to the poster above, how would you know if anyone didn't like Caiden? You know how you would know? They would hear the name and say nothing. That's what I do when I hear Ashlynn or Caiden or Brentleigh or whatever that made-up *$%@ is.
Sorry, I know that this is a jerky comment. Where we live there are so many flipping "interesting" names. I guess what I don't like about it is that it seems like it says more about the parents wanting to appear unique than anything else, much less the kid.
I just had to click this because I KNEW my sons name would be here and there it is! ( Only spelled differently ).
I've always hated the name Emma, though I thought it was an old timers name..and Addison
sounds ridiculous but I loooooove the name Caiden <3! Aiden and Jaden I think are adorable. Different eras bring about different names. No other name would fit my baby boy. He just looks like a Caiden lol :} <3
I dont want to be mean but Caiden is a pretty weird name. So is Jaden and Aiden, but I think Caiden is even a lil more weird then that.
I actually think Jaden is a lot more weird.
But I think it depends on whether the name is completely random or not. Caiden is a combination of my name and my boyfriend's name so it works out well. I always thought it was cute when family members names go together somehow, unlike out of the blue names. Ex: mom's name starts with a K, dad's name starts with an M, kids names start with a B, an R, and a Z.
It probably depends on the area too. The name Caiden is appreciated where I live and everyone thinks it's rather cute, especially because my son is perfectttttt! If they didn't like the name, they loved it after seeing him! Ha :}
My opinion doesnt mean anything anyway, and I think its also a good point you bring up about the area as well. Where I am from you dont meet many Caiden, Jayden or any other rhyming combination.
At the very least it is a more unique name. Good luck on your parenting journey.
