Is it normal that i hate calling people on the phone?

For the longest time I've hated calling people, even family and other loved ones. For some reason I just don't like phone calls. I'll still talk on the phone every once in a while, but I usually avoid calling people and ignore most incoming calls. The other problem is that I don't like calling loved ones, even immediate family. Most of the people I know talk to their families a couple of times a week, and I'll go months sometimes almost a year without speaking with mine, and 99% of the time it's because they called me. I'm only 26 years old, so it's not as if I'm old and disconnected with my family. Also i'm not one of those people so addicted to texting that I stopped using the phone altogether either. Is it normal?

It's normal. I find talking to someone in person much easier. Phone or Internet talking is more awkward because I can't see the person face to face and I wind up overthinking what to say.

I hate it too. The immediacy of a face-to-face conversation but without the body language cues. I'm an amicable fellow in real life, but something about my brain just can't figure out a phone conversation. So awkward.

Same here. I HATE talking on the phone. Especially with my cell, where the reception sucks. I hate asking "Can you repeat that?" constantly. Texting's just easier. I hate talking face-to-face with people, too, so that's probably another reason I hate talking on the phone...I just hate that interaction. Texting and typing are much easier on my mental health.

I'm terrified of phone calls. If someone calls me up, I'll usually try to wait it out and then text back to see who it is. When people call me, I feel like it's at the wrong time regardless of the situation. I don't like to make calls myself unless I'm calling my mother. Texting is nice, because there isn't a "time-limit",etc. One of the things I do hate about it is when someone texts you non-stop demanding to know how you are. Its privacy invading and extremely annoying>_<

yeah i understand. i let the answering machine get the call. i am more into face to face conversation with someone. so generally i prefer someone to text me when they want to catch up and then we see each other. but even more annoying than phone calls are people trying to talk to you via facebook. omg that fucks me off so much. society are so fucking lazy now. my friends are actually wondering why i dont talk to them on facebook instead of catching up. its like "really? we have been friends for donkies years and all of a sudden you would rather talk to me via a computer?" thats fine, i will have drinks with real people instead of talking to words on a computer screen.

Why, though? People rarely even talk on the phone now-a-days. Everything is text, text, text. What happened to a good old phone call?
