Is it normal that i hate being a catholic?

I seriously hate it. I don't like the beliefs. I don't like the requirements. I don't like anything about it. I believe in god. I wish it was that easy. I wish I could stop right there, but nooo. Why do they bring politics into it. What does politics have anything to do with god. They expect me to believe what they believe, but it is just their opinions. And why do I have to do all this stuff just to get confirmed. It's stupid. It's a waste of time. It pisses me off. I feel like I'm being controlled, and brain washed. I feel like I'm one of Hitler's followers, and I'm being told lies. And I mean... come on. Sex before marriage...he, you've got to be joking. Please comment, and if you want to, give me some other religion options. Tell me why they would be better.

If you don't believe in the religion, then you're not a Catholic. End of story. Just because your parents are Catholic and you go to a Catholic Church doesn't mean that you are one. Religion isn't genetic. It's a belief system. If you don't believe in the tenets of that religion, then you're not a member of it.

So you believe in Christ, start there. Say you are a Christian, not a Catholic, them try different churches. Presbyterian, baptist, community, church of Christ.... Those are just some. There are plenty of websites that will explain each denomination so you can research first but truely the best way is to go and try it out. Stay long enough to sit in on a meeting to ask questions about their beliefs and workings of their church to find out why or why not one works for you. Good luck!

  • Dude, I am so with you. Actually according to the church I shouldn't be here. I'm an IVF baby. And you know what? Screw it! I believe in God and Jesus and I don't believe in most catholic teachings. Unfortunatly my mom forces me to go to church every week and she forces her beliefs on me and no matter what i say I don't like about the church she yells at me. I also go to a Catholic School. But i think I'm converting when I get older. I don't care if my mom force me to be catholic but she can't force be to believe what she believes.
Also God has no place in politics. Politics and God are two separate things. I really hate it when people put words in God's mouth. Did it ever say once in the bible that IVF is a no-no? Nope. So how do you know god doesn't like it?
    Good luck to you :)

I had an argument with my dad the other day because I told him I don't feel I have to believe everything in the Bible! He said I'm wrong and I say man wrote the Bible, but then comes in the argument of how the people who wrote it were sent by God to. How is God all-loving if he hates gays? And everyone who pretty much does anything bad is going to hell? And then, we were created in his image?! Oh PLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEASE! He's perfect, yet we are the most fucked up creatures on the planet!!!!!! I love God, but I hate religion.... religion doesn't allow freedom, you do things because you're told, not because you want to or don't want to. Religion mixes with society's beliefs. If it wasn't for religion, I would have lost my virginity to the man I truly loved, not to whomever i will marry that i doubt i will ever love as strongly! >:[

You don't need to be catholic. You can do/ believe whatever you want! Religion is strange sometimes. Just do whatever makes you happy and a better person, and ignore what others say about it!

I was also raised Catholic, and no longer practice because other Catholics and the politics involved have ruined it for me. I don't believe in God anymore but I still try to live by Christian values. Not the rubbish ones where they try to control your life, but the good ones like where you are kind to other people and try not to judge etc. Maybe this would help - http://www.countmeout.ie/

Don't get me wrong. I'm not bashing the catholic church or it's followers but many of their rules and regulations are not actually found in the bible as with many denominational rules. As far as sex b4 marriage... I work at a crisis pregnancy center. Trust me your better of waiting... Saves you from tons of drama and disease.

It's totally normal. Having grown up catholic I can tell you firsthand the catholic church is rigid and based on manmade religion not biblical values. I would encourage you to make your faith your own. Seek out a non denominational church if that's what would help. At the end of the day what matters is your personal relationship with Christ not your church or religious affiliation.

Girl im with ya, i hate it also esspicially the part where you cant get abbortions even if your life is at risk, my mother would be dead if she didnt break away from the christian church that is why my family doesnt attend church anymore its because of all the strict practices and traditions. I belive in god, but putting god into political thinking and actions is in my mind wrong.

My suggestion would be, look up different religions, study and search for the truth. I'm a Muslim and Its a religion of peace. you probably laugh at this but people just presented it the wrong way. But that is totally up to you. Study

If you don't want to be a Catholic - don't be. It's not a huge deal to turn away from it, and if you like, you could become a non-denominational Christian. You have a lot more freedom to practice your spirituality, and are not bound by the silly rules that the Catholics lay down (like the confessionals).

Religion is something really personal. Everybody has the right to believe in whatever they want to. If you believe in God and are fine with it, that should be it. If you dont agree with christian 'rules', simply ignore them.

Go Lutheran! I call it Catholic light! We're not so uptight about things and believe that being faithful and nice and HAPPY is all god wants for ya! No "ETERNAL DAMNATION FOR WEARING PURPLE BRAS!" or something like that! Hahahahaha!

Just go to the source! Read the bible on your own! But one laid down his life, so that by grace are we saved. His mother has nothing to do with that. Don't go to man to find God. This might be God tapping you on the shoulder away from that den of iniquities

Hi. It's normal. Anyway, I'm a moslem girl. Maybe you could study any other religion to enrich your perspective. You should read, discuss, and pray to God--The One that you believe--to let you know the best. Good luck. Hope to see you someday ;)

PLEASE STOP, I am mad at you for thinking with such a closed mind.

I challenge you to actually study the faith. Look at the lives of the saints. Study theology. There are reasons why the Catholic Church teaches what it teaches. They didn’t get those teaches from the pope’s behind. The teachings are there to help you become more holy. They are there to help you get to heaven easier. Read Augustinian ethics. Don’t just stop and quit going to church because of how it looks from the outside. Once you understand what the church does and why it does it you will understand many things. The church is beautiful. It’s a great experience. Don’t give up. Pray! Pray for me. Thank you.

u must do more than believe in God u must live your life for him so no believing in him is not enough find a non denominational church to go to all they do is have a service of praise and worship with some bible reading they dont add on any extra made up rules
