Is it normal that i hate anti-americans?

I hate those who hate me and my fellow Americans. I mean, sure we do alot of stupid things and sure we made alot of mistakes in the past and we continue doing so. That doesn't mean we're "Morons". It means that we're human just like everyone else. That doesn't give non-US citizens the right to call us "Stupid, Fat, and Evil" because not all of us are like that. How would they feel if we did it to them at the same magnitude and frequency they do to us? They shouldn't stereotype us. Unless all those non-American nations get to know our country well, they should just keep their traps shut and not insult our country, or its residents. They shouldn't act as if they're better than us either because they're not.

An american walked into my shop and tried to pay me with his american dollars when i said to him we don't take dollars here he replied "why the hell not" to which i said because "this is not America" based on that experience i am not gonna generalise all americans as big headed and stupid.

  • So, Americans never stereotype people from other nations?

The foreigners I have met never really seemed to dislike the American people, but they disliked the government.

Of course, you can find all sorts of hate groups on the internet. I just don't think they can represent anything other than the opinions of individuals.

Here's an interesting factoid for you. Most folks not from America actually don't hate us. Some definitely do; there's no doubt of that. However, some Americans do exactly the same.

Intolerance is inherently louder than tolerance.

As a side note, I'm not sure any US citizen can complain if someone described our society as fat. We are fat; there's really no denying that.

I have a shitload of respect for American people and culture but little to none for the policies of your government over the past, well 400 years or so.

It would not be logical to hate all citizens of a particular country. But nevertheless generalization always happens. For example for some reason most Americans think that all Muslims are violent and terrorists, but we are not! ;)

Not all Muslims may be violent, but Islam ITSELF sure as shit IS.

There's no point returning hate in equal fervour unless you first try and understand the reasons for that hate. Some people have a limited first-hand experience of Americans, and unfortunately the impression provided by a lot of the media, including US media, is negative. Don't underestimate the power of propaganda.

The foreign policy of the US has damaged the country's reputation, and that in turn tarnishes the people's reputation. There are a lot of countries, esp. in the Middle East, that have a legitimate reason to begrudge the US of A. The people are the voters, and some responsibility falls upon their shoulders - which means some of the blame does too.

Also, the ubiquity of American culture can be frustrating. 50% of it is brilliant and intelligent entertainment, the other 50% is absolute crap churned out and forced upon our doorsteps (especially in the music industry - so many shit American artists in our charts whilst the best America has to offer is left by the wayside). We look at it and wonder why we pander so much to the culture of America, why we idolise American celebrities, why we hold them up as the pinnacle of cool - whilst often placing ourselves and our own cultural output below, as inferior, less worthy of praise and funding and attention.

    This, again, creates anti-American sentiment.

I think if the US takes a less obtrusive, violent approach towards the rest of the world (in regards to their foreign policy), uses their power of influence in a positive way, then the USA's reputation will improve. I also think if the rest of us outside the US are a little more discerning in what aspects of American culture we choose to pluck and push into the limelight, then the USA's reputation will improve.

The stereotypes of other places are funny that's why they're ok. Like those cheese eating French, the nice canadians
