Is it normal that i had hallucinations due to lack of sleep?

Last night I finally got to sleep after around 50 hours of sleep and after around the 36 hour period I started having minor hallucinations. Not like I was on acid or anything just little things from the corner of your eye that look different or they look like they moved. When I turned out the lights to try and go to sleep several times I would sometimes see a person or something like that standing in front of me which really scared me!!

Is this normal?

Yeah, it's normal. I've hallucinated all kinds of things through sleep deprivation. I've seen aliens, I've seen clocks flick forward by a whole hour at a time, and I've seen an angel made entirely from glowing harpstrings at the end of my bed.

I rarely go more than 48 hours without sleep these days, though, and only then because of the pressure of work.

Yeah, that happened to me around the 48 hour mark. :p it's normal, it was kinds scary. Meant to go to class but I was scared to go outside cus it was too loud.. Just had some weird minor visual distortions, but the psychotic thoughts are what made it weird

sleep depravtion will cause the brain to begin to rewire itself and create psychosis hallucinations and eventuality organs begin to shut down

Try not sleeping in three days, drinking booze and smoking weed when watching horror movies for almost that whole time, with three electric guitars left to doing feedback for whole time. Then go outside walk in a dark forest... be sure to have a sober friend or two with you. Else you really can die of fear.

  • It only happened to me once, after about 2 nights without sleep I had auditory hallucinations: I kept hearing either the main riff or the organ part from In A Gadda Da Vidda in the background. If I tried concentrating on the music, it went away.
