    It's called Sadism, and it is a component of the sexual fetish that is called BDSM. It is nor considered normal, but it is a recognized act and it is not exactly frowned upon to those that are more sexually open minded. I myself, find no issue with this.

    I would recommend that you make sure that your sexual encounters and use of sadism is only practiced on a willing participant ONLY. I would also recommend you establish a "safe word", like "purple" or "tree" so that your partner may say this if they feel that they are in real danger and need to pause. Otherwise, you could face serious legal trouble.

    There are many out there like you, I'd suggest first looking at some BDSM websites to gain perspective of your fetish.

    Actually choking isn't exactly BDSM
    Its a real sexual physical state that can cause the best orgasms for the one being choked.

      Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the bigger danger from autoerotic asphyxiation, where the person passes out and can't get out of whatever rig they tied themselves into? I had the idea that that's how most people died, or from having someone go too hard and hit pressure points.
