Is it normal that i get terrible heart cramps and cant breathe?

Ever since i can remember I've occasionally (a few times a month)started to take a breath in and had to stop because of a terrible stabbing cramplike pain in my heart, or left chesticle area. It can sometimes last up to 5 minutes and while I have the pain i cant take any deep breaths because the pain gets to be too much. I can only take tiny short breaths and hope the pain goes away. I CONSTANTLY tell my Dr. but all she has ever done is given me a puffer which doesnt help. I dont have breathing problems, I just occasionally get a crippling pain in my heart that makes it so i cant finish taking in deep breaths. anyone know the feeling?

:O I have exactly the same problem as yours.. The last time I experienced it was last week, it normally lasts for like few mins but last time it lasted an hour. Theres an air bubble in your lungs, its called Precordial Catch Syndrome. It feels like theres a bubble inside you thats about to burst out if you breath in deeply so you hold your breath and u slowly breathe in and out to prevent the stabbing pain, you feel it below your left boob or ribcage. Its the worst feeling ever. What I do is drink a glass of water, put two pillows at your back so you wont be laying down flat and the pain will soon go away. It is not heart related as people who experinced it would initially think, it normally occurs in teen-agers like me or kids. It poses no danger but if you always experience it consult a doctor 'cause sometimes it could be an indication of some serious problems :(

I get the exact same thing and so do some of my sisters and brothers. I'm glad you know what the name of it is though. I've also found that bending over and breathing deeply helps it go away. If you breath all the way in despite how much is hurts it can also help it go away.

Its called Precordial Catch Syndrome, Its a problem ive have and been to numerous doctors about it. Its a waste of time to go to doctors because its hard to diagnose. Research it :D.

It's called precordial catch. It doesn't involve your heart, and is relatively common. Ive experienced it for years.

I've got the same problem, sometimes I lay on the floor with my arms over my head and take small breaths to help it go away. I have no idea how to stop it, but I do understand the pain, it's excruciating.

It could be anything from a serious medical condition to anxiety attacks. I would go back to the doctor and request further testing. Poor health can put a serious damper on your life.

Pulled muscles and cramps in the chest can be normal for guys.
Guys tend to exert themselves and lift things much heavier than they would admit they can really handle.

Even though that's true, it's still good having a heart check. See your doctor.

I'd go to a different doctor. If its angina and you're ignoring it you'll be heading towards an early grave.

I would seek out a second opinion. That sounds pretty serious.
